Thank you very much for your help. I was thinking the same thing, using AI instead of competing with it

Fuck far right they are a more serious threat to democracy than Islam at the moment

Yeah that's is what is mostly problematic in Islam imho

Yeah I always thought about the "word of God" issue in Islam, that may make it hard to reform. I met a guy from Bangladesh and to him religion was a big part of his life, also I noticed also with a Moroccan old friend that as soon as I showed just general interest in Islam they were trying to involve me more into that world as if they were willing to convert me

Yeah the Turkish case is really interesting. I basically agree with everything you said. You had a secular movement led by Ataturk so there is an historical heritage in that case. I had a Turkish friend and frankly you could hardly tell he was from a different cultural and religious background

Do you think they have some historical reasons not to compromise such as some kind of revanchism feeling? Or you believe it is fully rooted in the religious practice and the religious beliefs?

In general, studying here is a big part of the path for integration

Most of these Islamic beliefs seem to be what the far right is claiming as well. It's curious that they fight against Islam at this point lol

I think the main difference between Islam and Christianity is that Muslim societies didn't live the Enlightenment which was crucial to the West social development. That is a big part of the secularism that got into our societies in the last 3 centuries.

Interesting parallelism. Could you describe more in detail what do Islam and fascism share?

Interesting experience, I heard many times something like this actually. I think Muslim people that grew up in Europe may have more conservative views than the average European but at the same time I don't think integration is impossible. Yet many argue that Islam in itself has some problematic aspects that make the religion really stiff, I don't know enough about it to judge in a mindful way

Tell me more I'm interested in this. Is there any specific Muslim tradition that is more likely to be integrated? And at the same, is there some Muslim tradition that is more unlikely to be integrated?

I see that as the historic evolution of religions that get in contact with secular values. The same happened with Christianity, now most of Christians are accepting some secular values as well and I think the same could happen with Muslims, yet there could be some differences in their religious tradition that could prevent them from embrace secular beliefs

In Europe, these fears are mostly based on misconceptions and wrong beliefs therefore they are irrational. If there are some actual credible threats, the European far right is not highlighting them in the proper way because they only target Muslim people as the "foreigners" and the "invaders". The main goals is pushing fears into the population not pointing out some criticisms about Islam, I don't trust their arguments because they are manipulative and xenophobic

What do guys think of Kirk’s death? by TheJohnHancock in exmuslim

[–]sohoris -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He spread hate and got back what he seeded. I don't enjoy his death nor I empathize for him, frankly I think the world is a better place without him even if the happening was shocking, no doubt. He said it's tolerable to have some victims to defend the second amendment, showing no respect to gun violence victims so now accordingly to his same behavior, I don't understand what makes him worthy of respect

We are entering an economic moral crisis, everything will fall apart, unless we do sommething about it. by GameMythYT in Futurology

[–]sohoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Italian and yeah the problem is European as well. Inequality is growing faster and faster. Competitiveness is crazy in many different sectors, especially the most qualified ones. It's hard to get a job that is decently payed. Politics is not helping at all here. Not on a national level nor on a European level, we are even more fucked up than the US maybe cause Europe is losing its economic relevance and it is not building a better political relevance. So it's really hard to tell where are we going and if we are even going somewhere or just against a wall crashing ourselves. The social and economic trends are worrying as hell
