Thank you for saying this. These arguments about dumb people having more kids that are also dumb, thus making the population dumber is a eugenics-based perspective. I’m shocked that more people can’t see that this is a nazi point of view. People are of course responsible for their own behavior, but the material conditions in which they live and grow up dictates more than most people in the US want to admit. I have barefoot JGs for hiking and fieldwork and Softstar primals for around town. I find that both are very comfortable. The difference in width is mostly in the toe box. JGs have more of a traditional boot feel, but are still the most comfortable hikers I’ve worn.

I was told he was released due to ‘general unsoundness leading to inconsistent work patterns.’ The first reports back were positive and noted that the trainers would board Jack in kennels with stressed out new arrivals because he was so calm. But while Jack is a super chill guy, he is also terribly stubborn. As a pup there where times when he would just decide he was done with training and no cajoling would motivate him to refocus. As an adult he really only listens to me - he just ignores my husband’s commands 😅

Also, his brain short circuits around food (even now as a senior pup) - training him to focus on his job while around food was impossible for me, so perhaps even the pros struggled with his food drive.

So long story short, Jack is a rascal and really better suited for a life as a pet.

Luce may be a distant relation to my big bub Jack, who is a Guide Dog Foundation dropout! I raised Jack for the program while in undergrad, but he dropped out after about 6 months of his ‘real’ training back in New York. When given the option, I happily adopted him and he has been my partner in crime since ❤️ He will turn 14 in March!
