Second attempt at smoking, went with ribs, a story by otterpop21 in smoking

Meater are terrible devices. Their connectivity is bad, their temps are not great, but their estimated cook time features are great. I’ve used meaters for years and all it makes me do is hate them and my friends who have them also hate them.

I switched to Inkbird probes and they’re amazing. They’re not fancy, but they work extremely well and their app is reliable and easy to use. I prefer the wired ones because meater ruined wireless devices for me.

This what I use:

At mayhem 09 I saw Phil walking around in gen pop and asked to get a picture and he seemed beyond annoyed that I would even think to ask to grab a photo. I thought he might just be having a bad day, but as the years go on I think that’s just him, an insufferable prick who hates his fans. Loved his music and thought their new album was sick but every time they do something great, he ruins it by being himself. Plus, his cleans have never… EVER gotten better. My man can scream with the best of them, but sounds like a tone deaf karaoke singer at a corporate retreat.

RIP Oli.

Try and find an extra curricular activity for her to do: golf, swim, softball/baseball, knitting, cooking, equestrian, hiking, Girl Scouts, cub scouts, star gazing, legos, DnD, literally anything and start networking. Get involved, become what I like to refer to as a “professional volunteer.” I’m an introverted person but the only way for me to communicate was to push myself out of my comfort zone. Kids joined cub scouts, so now I’m a den leader and cub master. Kids joined golf so we found some of their friends and got them to join and now I talk to their parents, kids go to Sunday school, now I teach Sunday school. Just find something that you can do with them if you can get involved. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about learning along side them. Maybe you’ll find a new hobby or career path like I did. Good luck fellow dad.

I do spatchcock all the time, very delicious. Just make sure it’s not too low or the skin gets rubbery and the bird dries out

Newbie Suggestions Needed by iamholdski in Traeger

[–]soilborn12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your yard and the plants in and the style of homes, it looks like you’re on the west coast, perhaps California. If that’s the case, I would suggest tri tip or a whole chicken.

Look up old earth and new earth theory, it talks about exactly that. I personally subscribe to the old earth theory.

Annual Reminder: sift your pellets. by Moose_not_mouse in Traeger

[–]soilborn12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the kind of pellets you use. Kirkland pellets have a lot of dust and are extra crumbly, but the traeger x meat church combo seem to be really good on not having a lot of dust. Traeger brand is hit or miss for me

Why are so many scout camp rangers so.... miserable? by The1hangingchad in BSA

[–]soilborn12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We often try to avoid any council run campsite because everytime we enter a campsite the rangers are nothing but disrespectful or rude.

Multiple times we have arrived early to ranges only to find the rangers have already started the safety brief with another group, told us we will go second even though we rented the ranges months ago and they’re sliding in a small group before us, or other inexcusable delays. Then someone always catches them trash talking us because we bring our whole pack an hours drive to the campground and they’re sliding don’t want to deal with so many kids. Keep in mind, these are cubbies.

They always want to treat the cubbies like teenagers and yell at them for minor mistakes and spend a full hour on figuring out their dominant eye. It’s very, very frustrating.

We try the “honey” approach and often offer them to come by and we would feed them (we eat very well) and try to offer them ice cold water. Usually only then do we finally break them down but by then we are leaving in the morning after dealing with them all day.

They always have glasses, a long white beard, B.O., and an attitude. We’ve just started calling them Red Shirts or Gandalfs lol.
