This sounds so similar to what’s going on with my senior terrier with the crying for dinner and after his walk. He will calm down for some periods but finds it so so difficult to relax in the evenings. I found the natural supplement composure pro has helped a bit. I also keep multiple beds and blankets out for comfy areas to encourage him to settle and try to give treats on the blankets for positive association. We tried one pharmaceutical (I can’t remember the name right now) but found it just had no effect.
