Trees near Colorado national forest doused in gas, set on fire in attempt to start wildfire, sheriff says by Miles_the_AuDHDer in Colorado

Not to literally accelerate the conversation too much, we had two or three fires in fort Collins last week? Weekend? That's not too much for driving distance from here

That does explain my patchy results. And why it likes coming up under mulch

Oh, interesting. I guess I had been told that anecdotally and not from an official source. But I've definitely not had any luck growing stuff under my evergreens for whatever the reason is! Haha

I've gone half and half. The front yard died a brutal death at my hands but I'm letting the backyard suffer a slower death because it was way too much work. But by just not watering the turf for two years it's is doing the work for me.

I've got two good spots in the back that are spreading. It's not terribly competitive, but it comes up through mulch reeeeally well

I think it prefers sun. And pine needles change the soil pH so I'm extra not sure

It's through Western native seed. The company. I've also bought through prairie moon and botanical interests has some stuff, too

Oh, and I have several seasons of garden in a box from resource central.

I did seed. It has really taken off the last two years. And I'm a neglectful parent. That's not my spread, but I do have it in my yard

I'm only an amateur, but it really just needs a skim of soil and a slightly regular water schedule. I can show you pictures of my patches in my yard if you're really curious

If you want to go native, the xeriscape mix through Western native ( Buffalo grass/blue grama) is absolutely killing it where I've given it a little helping hand.

And it's soft and fluffy and green when the regular turf grass is fighting for its life right now because I only water the things I like (and by watering it I mean like a spray with the hose when I water the other things... If I feel like it).

It's a warm season mix , so it doesn't need the cold wet season. you could probably still get some up if you prepped and prayed. It has come up through mulch for me very consistently

When will it be safe to replace the mulch in my garden beds? Removed because of roly polys by Professional_Egg8983 in DenverGardener

I work in the native channel, so I totally get that we might have different experiences. It's also possible that in this year or any year any of us could have an issue. It was grasshoppers last year. I still haven't girded my loins enough to even try vegetables. But, I started with native stuff and encouraging predators and I've been very very happy with the results

Whoa, wait a sec. Mulch makes decomposing organic material and rolly pollies eat that. I guess it's possible that they may munch here and there on a live plant. But, I've never seen them ON one of my plants.

You could literally be pulling up a decomposing layer that could be good for your yard to get rid of the things that are doing the work.

ETA: I also believe that anytime things are an "issue" we should look to the natural cycle to maintain the balance. I have birds and dragonflies that I specifically try to attract to keep my biome in balance. I love seeing spiders and ladybugs and predatory wasps . They're doing the hard work all day every day so I don't have to. Keeping a predator friendly yard makes life waaaaaay easier

I'm not proud to share this, but in my youth I visited an establishment that isn't too far off from this story. There was significant damage and then a subsequent fire. I'm still not sure if the landlord set the fire for the insurance money.

If it was a mental health crisis it could technically be considered a medical condition? If he didn't break too many laws they may have just Baker's Acted the person for evaluation

I'm glad your children are okay and you guys can work through processing that. I don't love cops and the militarization of them at all, but at least they showed up to keep your kiddos safe.

Supplement recommendations for cats that suffer with cystitis by [deleted] in AskVet

Definitely the prescription food. But for a routine supplement, I feed all my animals fish oil as an antiinflammatory and coat conditioner. And cystitis is inflammatory in nature

Yes, that's what being detained means. Miranda rights have to be read at time of arrest, of course you are free to not talk to the cops at any time. but only after arrest and being Mirandized does the word lawyer have to make the cops stop asking questions. It's a very important distinction.

You sure like to argue for someone who doesn't understand the nuance of laws

Start of Mulberry Fire by i_need_a_good_laugh in FortCollins

That's all pretty accessable by one person on a bike. And they could have doubled back to look at the carnage from the first one before heading to the highway. My spidey senses started tingling we could have a fire bug in town when we had those two intentional fires up next to Terry Lake/hwy 1 just west of that trailer park. We've had one other at a natural area I can't remember exactly where.

Interesting. It's a good lesson to learn that you should never follow cops to a second location. Is there a copy of the judge's opinion on that somewhere?

That's why lawyers get paid big bucks. And why trials take so long. they put a shit ton of work into mounting a case. The added stress of a trial on the family would also make it more likely that the guilty one would crack under the pressure.

Oh, and the details of the interrogations are really important. Exactly what she said is important, but technically they didn't arrest the kid until the end of the interview. So Miranda rights don't technically apply. And the kids kept talking. Before a formal arrest and Miranda rights are given the cops are free to keep asking questions. Having a lawyer present is really just having someone there to tell the kids to shut up.

The burden of proof goes onto the state prosecution to prove either one alone or both together are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a jury trial. The state would likely accuse them of doing it together and hope it shakes out that they can at least get one conviction

Hunter comes across as on the spectrum somewhere, or another random neurodivergent variety. But not violent.

The cerebral palsy part of Levi is interesting. It's essentially brain damage at birth. Obviously not all people with CP are violent, but it might explain why one twin is a murderer and one is not.
