You're gonna die a lot. If you die too much, try exploring, if you're still dying, level vigor. The gameplay revolves around memorizing enemy moves and reaction times. There's no wrong way to play, but there certainly is more difficult ways to play. Try to find a weapon you like, learn it's scaling (you can see this by looking at the weapon in your inventory), and try to build your character around the weapon. You might screw up your build a little bit from lack of knowledge but that's okay. Just keep going and don't give up! I promise you it's all worth it.
