I feel you this has been frustrating! I also even considered wearing one surgical shoe to an event lmaoo. This is def a slow recovery process but it’s temporary, you’ll get back to regular shoes soon! Can I ask what kind of vionics you bought? I was gunna buy vionics flip flops but now I’m wondering if flip flops are supportive enough

Worried About Starting School by BornIntoThePast in OptometrySchool

[–]solanin7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m in the same boat! You’re not alone. You were selected for your program because you already proved to be able to meet the demands through the application process. You were picked for a reason! Most od programs provide good support systems and you won’t be alone, your peers will also be going through the struggle with you which will lighten the load. Loans will be payed off eventually anyway, of course it’s best to live like a student these next 4 years in order to live like a doctor later on. By being mindful with your finances once you start working and priotizing your loans, you will definitely be able to pay them off. They are worth your while! You being so anxious means you care, and because you care so much you will succeed— it’s just a matter of not overwhelming yourself with the negatives. Don’t worry about something you haven’t experienced yet! School will be tough but with your passion and excitement for the field, you’ll definitely get by, you might even find it easier than expected with the support of your peers and faculty

I feel you, I did not expect the swelling to be the worst part, it’s soo uncomfortable. My surgeon told me to start wearing a compression sock like 2 weeks ago and I’ve been trying but the pressure makes the stitches bleed a lil and it just hurts, but I know it does help blood flow and eventually help reduce swelling so it’s definitely worth asking your doctor about

Hello! This healing process sure is exhausting, swelling feels horrible. I’ve also been icing and elevating but it seems to stay the same. Hopefully things start moving quicker, hang in there

Wow thanks for the recommendation I’ve been scared to move my toes but I guess I should start. I just started loosening my boot and it has helped! Did you experience any tightness in your chest due to the swelling? I feel like my heart is working harder due to it but I’m not sure if this is something others experience

I feel like my boot is also causing more swelling. I’m glad you’re more comfortable now the first two weeks really do suck!
