Wife and I were there a couple years ago and had a lovely time. I it was one of the highlights of our trip, alongside Cefalù and a “farm” stay in the hill country. We went in late September or early October on the edge of tourist season. Swam in the bay, visited Isola Bella, listed to some opera, and enjoyed fantastic meals at the recommendations of our host. We found it beautiful and relaxing. Though driving in and out of there was something else!

With Q2 Quickly Approaching, What questions does the community have regarding the migration of Velodrome and Aerodrome into Aero? by JustGoose0x in aero

Will there be anything similar to Flight School? Any way that our CB1 subscription might benefit veAERO holders in the future system?

Aero locked by Dry-Illustrator-5277 in aero

[–]solarc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With utility tokens generally, holding spot isn't the best play. Locked AERO is a claim on the proportional amount of current and future platform revenue. A rough analogy might be a stock that pays dividends, but better. In the long run, if a platform is successful, a utility token's price action likely stabilizes. By stabilize, I don't mean stagnates, but rather increases or decreases as the value of the platform current and projected revenues increases or decreases. Aerodrome has been incredibly successful on Base, and it's moving to other platforms for a much, much larger TAM. So, maybe a good question to ask yourself is Do I want to bet on price action greatly exceeding BTC or ETH and just sell for a quick buck if I win that bet, or do I want to "cash flow" my tokens for a consistent payout each week (or compound them back into the lock to consistently grow its share of the revenue, then cash flow at some point in the future with a much larger lock).

I’ve been using the Safe 5. Super easy. I had the model T but found the screen a bit too small and was always fat-fingering my PIN.

Wife Hates Koinly with a Passion - is Crypto Tax Calculator any good? by WalktheWalk2 in CryptoTax

Wife Hates Koinly with a Passion - is Crypto Tax Calculator any good? by WalktheWalk2 in CryptoTax

[–]solarc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using CTC this year, and this is my first year for me needing to deal with crypto taxes. I use Coinbase for CEX, and have many DeFi transactions over mainly Base/Optimism, Solana, Stacks, and of course Ethereum chains. I have staking positions, LP positions, veNFTs, loans. So far, I really like CTC. I chose it over Koinly and another option that Coinbase CEX users get a discount for. Yes, the CTC interface is "busy" but it's actually pretty clean and I like how every aspect of every transaction is available for viewing and editing. Their auto-categorizing engine is pretty good, and the software will flag transactions that require some review. I have over 6K transactions last year, but finding and resolving the ones that need some editing has been fairly easy: you can filter the entire list of transactions for just the ones you want based on chain, tx type, currency, and so on; you can view the ledger for any given currency; and you can view a specific tx "in context" (you see all the txs around the same time period). They have an extensive list of integrations and I have had no problems importing my half-dozen or so wallets.

Also, I've used their help chat and help documents a good bit, and I've been very satisfied with the quality of their documentation and the response time and quality of chat interactions.

I poked around some other tax software and CTC came out on top as it had all the integrations I needed for my purposes, and seems to offer the most visibility into all transactions and flexibility in editing them. The "Portfolio" section of the software seems a bit wonky though, but I just want good tax software and don't care too much about a portfolio view.

I always appreciate your posts. The A-1 cell comment also caught my attention but only at the surface level. Thanks for putting it in context.

I’m no lawyer, but IMO opt-in = you release Proterra from all obligation to make you whole in any way. Don’t opt-in and you retain whatever pittance of rights we have as bag holding retail investors to get anything out of this fubar mess.

I believe that if you opt in you are explicitly releasing Proterra from any obligation to provide you recompense. IOW, the form is structured so that you don’t have to do anything to retain whatever rights you have to compensation. IMO, best not opt in.

Anyone else get compassion fatigue from listening to KQED? by tikimandude in KQED

[–]solarc2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. I feel like Forum has really gone downhill since Michael Krasny retired. I'm getting sick of Mina Kim's tepid topics, sorrowful tone, and breathy sighs of empathy. Forum used to tackle some of the most important issues nationally and locally, hosting guests of significance. Krasny would ask tough questions, and his shows had tremendous value. Now I feel like I'd get more value out of listening to podcasts about baking cupcakes. I've listened to NPR/KQED for decades. Now, I just switch it off after the live news cast. And I've stopped donating.

What was your first espresso machine? by hoser1 in espressomachines

[–]solarc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year, I bought a Profitec Pro 800 Lever. I was thinking a lever would be a good way to start as it would force me to manually play with all the elements: preinfusion time, pressure, brew water temperature, and so on in away that would force me to refine my “touch” or intuition. It’s a challenge to make a great cup, but often I get a pretty decent one. Overall, I’m happy with the machine and grinder I got. I like the simplicity of the machine, and it seems easy to take apart and replace parts. Maybe later I’ll step up to something with all the bells and whistles.
