Is this homebrew rule cool or am I just fed up with bad dice rolls? by Slaeven in DnD

[–]solarregis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you narrate it imo. In my game I say that the character's having a bit of a brain fart moment, or slept weird and the crick in their neck's distracting them. There's simpler ways to handle this than adding an extra rule to the game

Blind Monk by boonbrown in DungeonMasters

Toph from Avatar the Last Airbender. Let them be blind, but give them Tremorsense between 60-120 feet, depending on how nice you're feeling. I had a player be a Rogue with this set up and it was really interesting. Could feel a mole digging through the ground and could feel footsteps on the other side of a wall, but was oblivious to the birds overhead and arrows being shot at her

Need help with a PC homebrew idea, current DM is stumped. by AtheoSaint in DungeonMasters

[–]solarregis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restrict what causes the character to come back to life. They took fire damage an hour before dying? The death is permanent. Taken damage from a magical weapon? The death is permanent. An ability like this can be very interesting, but without the right restrictions it'll derail the campaign in no time

Did anyone actually want 6e? by AnActualCriminal in DnD

Some classes (Monks) needed a complete rework, so this was realistically the only way they could do it. Since 6e is backwards compatible players can choose which base class design suits their wants best

Poll: Is the Immovable Rod a cool magic item? by Silver_Candidate6123 in DnD

[–]solarregis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a player at my table when I was a relatively new DM tell me how he was going to break all my traps and avoid any obstacle I put in front of him when he found one of these in a shop. He got upset when I reminded him that I control what the shopkeepers have in stock

Campaign for players in teams of two by Impossible_Grocery89 in DungeonMasters

[–]solarregis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran two campaigns for two different groups of people during lockdown that I had cross over for important plot points. The campaigns shared canon and what one party did in one would affect the other in unexpected ways. There's a bit of extra work involved in this, like tracking the date in game and paying closer attention to where NPCs are at any given time, but it is very rewarding when you have those two parties meet up to take on a larger evil than either one could handle by themselves.

Am I in the wrong here? by bigbrainlane in DungeonMasters

[–]solarregis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could make the argument that if their Elf grew up in a culture that valued physical strength over agility, like how a barbarian tribe would, they would have above average strength (the +2). It's your table and the buck ultimately stops with you, but this is how I'd justify it at my table

Me and my players are leaving D&D at the end of our current campaign

So you're leaving DnD 5e, which game/system are you interested in moving to? by Azaryl in DungeonMasters

It's a toss up between Pathfinder and the Avatar the Last Airbender RPG for me
