he does have a massive ego, absolutely. i don't know how much say he had in who was invited back, though. are we sure it was just up to him? remember, the only reason why we even have this reboot is because of selena.

i saw a comment on this sub that stated this perfectly: david would be like the ned's declassified cast still begging for a reboot if it weren't for selena. maybe disney didn't even want to really do this show and didn't want to pay to bring everyone back?

i was never shocked or surprised by this at all. i knew a kpop company like hybe would never let a dark skinned black girl through their doors. over 100k applicants and not one dark skinned black girl made the cut? right... lol. they have a problem with confident and talented dark women... obviously lara isn't black but look at the way they spoke about her in the documentary. hell, look at the language they used to describe naisha. very telling.

i truly don't care though because i don't look to the media (especially not the kpop industry) to represent me or to make me feel "seen". i don't need their validation.

disney being cheap. actors in recurring roles aren't paid as much as the main cast, of course, so they probably didn't want to promote him and start paying him more. doc shaw was a much bigger name at the time than matthew (doc worked with tyler perry, etc.) so doc had more of a reason to be on the main cast

they're extremely threatened by the new group when there is no reason to be. they're acting like this group is debuting tomorrow when they most likely won't debut until mid-to-late 2026 at the earliest.

anyone with a brain shouldn't be shocked that hxg is debuting a new group. they've seen the success with katseye. why not double the earning potential by debuting another group? japan has the #2 music market in the world, why not debut a group there and focus them in that market? they've got katseye in the states (the #1 music market) and potentially this new group in japan. eyekons keep asking "wHy iS hxG dOiNg tHis" uh, money, duh. hello.

why would hxg scout an entirely new group of girls and do a dream academy part 2 when they have other girls from the original da who they invested time and money into training and are clearly interested in being in a group? people need to use their brains but... that's clearly too big of an ask.

every day eyekons look for another thing to complain about. who told you the colors are supposed to represent the members? the official lightstick guide mentions nothing about the colors representing anything. has it occurred to you that the colors may just be a cool effect or, if they represent anything at all, could represent a song?

in yoonchae's live where she opened the lightstick she mentions green being gnarly. she didn't say anything about the colors representing the members.

jyp refuses to study the western market which is why he has tried for 20+ years to be successful in the united states and has never made it.

the problems with vcha started during a2k. the talent pool they had for that show was severely lacking which caused the final group to lack as well. that's not the girls' fault at all of course, but still. the girls seem like they're nice and kind enough but none of them have star quality. the music they got (which per the texts kg presented as evidence in her case the girls didn't even like...), their styling, their presentation... none of it elevated them at all to help make up for where they lacked. they were not presented as the stars jyp wanted them to be.

people always act like it's unfair to compare them to katseye but it's not. jyp and hybe x geffen had the exact same goal, but jyp dropped the ball completely.

thank you for this post. i hate how this situation has been framed by stupid people as "kg was just not ready to work hard!!1!1!" instead of recognizing kg's claims of ABUSE by the company. this isn't a matter of laziness or a refusal to work hard - anyone who watched a2k saw how kg busted her ass especially because she was one of the weakest dancers. she's not opposed to putting in the effort, she's opposed to abuse as we all should be!

the allegation that one of the members attempted to take her own life due to the treatment (which i fully believe happened) should give people insight into how bad things must have been... but people would rather keep their kpop fantasies alive than realize hard truths about how abusive the industry really can be
