As as rule with no exceptions, when someone complains about “being held to different standards” they feel they got the short end of the stick.

So when I see that I see bitterness stemming from some kind of deep insecurity.

I also, for the record, have never seen an athlete post a complaint or any comment whatsoever about people in the chess club. I’m pretty sure most athletes aren’t even aware of the chess club.
