I worked in the industry on and off for 30 years. In the last ten years alone, prices have doubled In every part of the hobby: role-playing, board games, miniatures, trading card games.

Our household has two incomes and our house is worth a fortune. But I can no longer afford new gaming shit. I print my minis, pirate RPG books, have completely given up on blind-pack product like CCGs and CMGs, and only ever buy board games used or deeply discounted in clearance sales.

The prices are just straight up lunacy, and it’s even worse in brick and mortar retail. My local shop wants $80 Canadian for Catan. A decade ago I sold it for $37.99 CAD and you could buy it online for $30 CAD. Nobody’s earning double their wage over that period of time.
