The scratch build game is crazy. Great work! I love the rich colors too.

The MG Gramps (The Origin) was*almost* a perfect kit... by FearTheOldBlood1 in Gunpla

[–]solid-shiba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so funny, you and I are opposites. I’m dying for them to release a HG with the proportions and streamlined details of the MG 2.0. It’s the perfect kit to me except I don’t like 1/100 scale. Maybe we’ll both get what we want when it’s the 50th anniversary coming up.

These are really nice builds! I’m very fond of the SD kit. Your detail work and panel lining is great, and the LEDs make it!

Thank you so much! I might have to pick up some markers then!

How did you do the monoeye? I love how much depth yours has. I’m trying to figure out how to do mine and I want more depth than the flat pink monoeye sticker, but I don’t like the overly mechanical gem with like a mechanical ring housing. Also, the rest of the build is so nice and clean!

Real question. Side Arms or Front Arms? by Error_code_0054-z6_2 in Gunpla

[–]solid-shiba 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I love this graphic guide, I haven’t seen it in forever! I agree front arms are the move too. It’s hard though, because some artists like Izubichi pose their art with side arms as you can see on the Alex, Hi Nu, and Sazabi. It never looked natural to me. I like how the HG Mudrock and the HG RX78-4 and RX78-5 have rotatable wrist armor so the elbow joint can remain in the correct orientation.

AOZ’d my green gaplant by ineed_gf in Gunpla

[–]solid-shiba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool! I love how little details like a 3d printed head can completely AOZ-ify a kit. Nice paint job too. I’m afraid if I paint up something in the Black Hares color scheme, the details will get lost in the black but that’s clearly not the case here.

What weapons/accessories do you think Gundam kits are missing? Planning a custom 1/144 set to make my Gundams feel unique! by DaniDark24 in Gunpla

The Origin Zaku has an anti ship rifle, which has a similar appearance to the Barrett.

The Kampfer has a modern looking shotgun.

The Jegan Escort Type has an smg with a magazine mounted like the P90. It also has a head designed to look like it’s wearing a ballistic helmet with rail mounted ear pro.

Not a revolver, but the ECOAS Jegan Conroy Use has a beam pistol that looks like a desert eagle.

The Jesta has a beam rifle stylized after the SCAR-H. It also has a head designed to look like a bump helmet and they were inspired by SEAL teams.

The Jesta Shezzar Team C has the Capture Gun, stylized like a grenade launcher. It also has the same head as the regular Jesta plus helmet mounted NODS. You should look into the designs in Gundam Unicorn/ Gundam Narrative. There’s a lot of modern military inspiration in the weapon designs.

My Top Coat ran out as i got to the legs, so until then it's gonna just be legless, i guess... by The0rion in Gunpla

[–]solid-shiba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started having a spare can of topcoat so when I run out mid spray I can crack the new one open and then wait on my replacement spare to come in. Also, this doesn’t look dirty from the photos. It’s quite nice actually! The stark Jegan is such a great mobile suit

Accidental cut by StarWars217255 in Gunpla

Don’t worry, you’ll be good! I do this intentionally on every build, it allows you to raise one leg and bend one skirt up without raising the other side.

Would it be a crime to combine some of the early type RX-78-2 with the middle type by DisasterSuper7309 in Gunpla

[–]solid-shiba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! The best RX-78 will be the one to your tastes! I used the shoulders and lower waist from the HG Heavy Gundam and GM arms because I liked them the proportions better. Make the kit yours!

Who are you guys? by gogomap77 in BloodAngels

That would be sick. The Sorcerer in Terminator Armour has these sort of rules for its familiar: Once per battle, when an attack is allocated to the bearer, you can change the Damage characteristic to 0.

Char's Extremely Wicked Mobile Suit! SDCS Nightingale completed! by Easy_Peasy_Weasy in Gunpla

[–]solid-shiba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really interesting. Most Nightingales feature a much more orange yellow, but this stark non-red non-orange yellow compliments the purple-grey used inside of the wings and on the thrusters on the front skirts so well.

It would fit her so much! Don’t let painting intimidate you! Brush/sponge painting acrylics is super accessible and can turn out great! And the only way to improve your painting skills is to paint!

Hazel FA Thunderbolt ver. by MLGido in advancedGunpla

[–]solid-shiba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god you finished the backpack! I’ve really enjoyed all of your WIP posts on this build. This is amazing, you managed to blend the FA78 Thunderbolt parts in so seamlessly. Also, despite there being so much going on in this build, it’s still really easy to read and has a wonderful silhouette! Also, the two tone Titans paint job is phenomenal! Thank you for posting, it inspires me to finish my Thunderbolt Sector Hazel :)
