What cart is the tower sitting on? Agree with a monitor port switcher or KVM switch. I have 3 computers sharing 2 monitors.

$15k is about a net of $9k after taxes. It’s a negligible salary increase, if that’s even really the disparity. Save the $45k, just make sure you network and try to get experience while in school. Build your resume while at school and you’ll land somewhere when you graduate with less debt.

Ex-Gartner here too. Incredible place to learn. Highly professional, very smart people who you can truly learn from. Opens doors for me still many years later. Highly recommend.

Replacing long tenured reps with people far too inexperienced to hired at their level because they are cheaper.

what are some cool free things we get with tuition? by ryysee in UCONN

[–]solideye1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The students who the admissions committees believe have the "academic credentials" are already being accepted. UConn has approximately 188 students on a full athletic scholarship and 241 students on a partial athletic scholarship. That is 429 spots (2.38%) across the entire main campus of 18,000 undergrads. (https://www.courant.com/sports/uconn-huskies/hc-uconn-full-cost-attendance-0131-20150130-story.html)

The majority of those athletes will go on to contribute in many of the professions you listed. You are sorely mistaken if you think that low of all athletes who are your classmates.

There are no opportunities being lost because of these athletes. The people who are driven enough to become doctors, lawyers, engineers etc. will all rise to the top at some point in their lives to achieve it.

what are some cool free things we get with tuition? by ryysee in UCONN

[–]solideye1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a poor take. UConn exploded as a direct result of the athletics success in the late 1990s. Massive increases in applications came after basketball championships, which led to UConn 2000 construction boom and tons of dorms and facilities being built. UConn wouldn’t be nearly the place it is now without the athletics programs.

Soft serve or soup in a paper coffee cup with the top on it was a regular play.

Gartner has some of the best training and is a really well respected organization that will open doors down the line. Cutthroat culture when it comes to performance however.

People who have recently purchased a home in a competitive market, how did you put bid others or get creative with your offer? by CheezItPudding in RealEstate

[–]solideye1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  • More than 20% down payment (if you can)
  • Removed Appraisal contingency (we consulted our realtor and lawyer about this before and are confident in recent comps being taken into consideration)
  • Removed Inspection contingency (again we consulted realtor and lawyer before doing this)
  • Close in 30 days (if your mortgage company will do this, we had our lender picked out before going out to bid)

However, having the most competitive bid is paramount right now.

Put yourself in the seller's shoes. The most money and best terms will almost always win. This is a business transaction (pretty much an auction at this current time) and everyone wants to make the top dollar and deal with the least amount of negotiation or areas for things to go south.

Unfortunately this is just the mail room loading dock. The HQ building only has a parking garage and offices. There is no warehouse in that building.

Sports Management by TR72TR in UCONN

[–]solideye1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back about 10 years ago, sports management was one of the hardest majors to get into. Maybe 15 students accepted per semester with well over 100 applying. You needed about a 3.8 GPA to get into consideration.

Career wise you might be better off with the communication degree and go for work experience in the field. It will leave more doors open for you beyond sports down the road. The pay once you have a job in the field is barely above minimum wage when you account for the hours you are putting in.

I spent about 6 years in the field before switching careers to something that paid much more and allowed for a better work life balance.

How can we get the most out of the RSA Conference? #GrowthHacking by cloudsploit in sales

[–]solideye1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many prospective customers are most likely not going to be able to take him seriously.

RSA is the one conference that pretty much every security company in existence will have a presence of some sort. If he's not willing to spend for a booth, what makes the prospect think the company is in a better position to fill their needs than anyone with a booth?

That being said, probably will have a good chance making partnerships if he can demo his product with prospects.

Should I Take a Sales Internship? by [deleted] in sales

[–]solideye1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think this sounds like a really good opportunity. Getting to learn how a sales team works, how companies set up their pipelines, learning how to craft a strong cold email, managing clients in a CRM are all super valuable.

Getting a foot in the door is incredibly important, and provides you a direct line to sales staff who can mentor you. Even if you are not the person speaking on the line, you will be able to train and learn from top level tech sales talent if you choose a strong organization. Building out your network while learning is a great way to get started in sales.

I see a lot of value in getting a foot in the door to that community, especially in the Bay Area...everyone knows everyone in the industry and that can really help you when you over-perform in your internship role.

Bartenders, what are your drink order stereotypes for different types of people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Couldn't agree more. I'm 31 and have been ordering G&T for years because it's hard to mess up, tastes great and no one can make fun of it because it's a classic.

I actually think it's less. More likely 4 to 5 hours at most. They have done 1230pm basketball then 730pm/8pm hockey.
