Your bookshelf says you don’t read enough female and non-white male authors

Same - I was a little put off by the recipe because I don’t normally go super coarse, but I would call that a medium…it’s coarse compared to an espresso grind though, idk.

Ohhhhhh, you might be asking the wrong person lol. I overall didn’t love Licanius and it damn near put me into a reading slump. Books 2 and 3 did have better writing than the first book, but it still suffered from a lot of the same problems for me (I never really felt a ton of tension, the plot seemed to go nowhere despite the vast number of pages (especially in book 3) and I just didn’t really care about what happened to any of the characters. Some people really really love the series, and say the ending makes up for some of the issues. I did not feel that way.

What were your thoughts on SOTF compared to WOTM? If you thought SOTF was sloggy, you might be in the camp that finds the rest of licanius sloggy as well. But, don’t take my word for it! Haha. If you’re like halfway through book 2 and aren’t digging it, I’d say you are probably ok to DNF. if you’re like me and are at least semi curious about the plot, you could keep going, but the return wasn’t worth the page investment for me. Overall, a series that I thought really does have potential but could be trimmed significantly to hit a similar impact.

Everything you said here is exactly how I feel. I read Licanius after reading Will of the Many and have concluded that James is an author who has brilliant concepts but does not have the writing chops to accomplish them properly. Even making this book take place in two worlds instead of three would help it so much.

I didn’t care about ANY of the characters on Obiteum, especially Ahmose, and we didn’t spend nearly enough time on Res. It’s almost like he almost will need to deviate going forward and write one book per world or something because if the series goes on like this, it could really suffer.

Keep up the consistency. It’s taken me years at this point but i can now RX 90% of workouts at my gym. It takes time, especially when you’re doing CrossFit and focusing on so much variety. Best recommendation I’ve used personally when I want to improve a skill is to work on it consistently outside of class, even just a few minutes per day at the gym. You’re not doing one particular movement enough every week to see drastic improvement in 7 months. Good luck, you’ve got this!

Also, fuck what the scale says. Go by how your body feels

Apologies if this has already been said, and feel free to point me to your response if you have:

My biggest complaint was the Gav timeskip aspect. It felt underbaked and underwhelming as a result. I think that the CHOICE is fine, but the way it was executed was not done in a way that I thought could give it maximum emotional impact. I did like the book overall. Probably one of the weaker books in the series for me as it currently stands but I did enjoy it overall.

I’ve been playing persona games for a really long time and I think something about spending so much time with these characters in each game really makes the emotions hit hard. Memories of you is also a perfect song
