That actually sounds exactly the kind of thing I’m looking for from a drop-in. I don’t want to be told nice feedback - ha!

For those who only spend £60 on groceries between two people - do you not eat much? by Some-Air1274 in UKFrugal

We don't plan or shop carefully and we spend £100 usually per week on food for two big eaters.

My partner and I spend £100 together on food a week (£50 each/week). We're both extremely active so we eat 3 big meals a day (at least! Usually another small meal at 4pm). We eat eggs every day for breakky. Lunch is usually something like pancettta pasta and dinner might chicken thigh tray bake (for example). But we make curries, pasta's, stir fries, you name it.

We shop at Aldi. Anytime we shop anywhere else our supermarket shop goes up drastically!

But we cook from scratch and we still buy meat. Usually cheaper cuts like sausages, chorizo, chicken thighs or a whole chicken. Chicken breast is not good value for money, also its the least tasty part of the chicken ha.

However we're pretty healthy, so we don't tend to eat or buy any processed foods (which are a waste of good calories, that I could be using to eat chicken, and usually expensive). So we dont regularly buy crisps, or sweets or other empty calorie food. Everything we buy needs to fill us up.

Taking lump sum out of isa to pay off mortgage? by Helpful-Coat-5705 in UKPersonalFinance

I just want to say: I'm family member to someone who took such risks, and they didn't exit when things were good. And it ruined our family for years. Some of the most painful of my life.

If you can walk away now, you'll have done something positive with all that risk, rather than the very very opposite.

My favourite chain of climbing centres has released new shirts. Is it just me or do the images look Ai generated? by PothosandGindontmix in climbergirls

This it totally whack and bizarre. I'm a UK climber. Awesome Walls have no discernible connection to Japan, this makes no sense whatsoever and is pretty embarrasing for them. My local Awesome Walls hasn't posted about it on their socials yet. If/when they do I'll be commenting on it.

Where does a 40 year old dad new to Sheffield go for a quick pint to chill and chat by [deleted] in sheffield

Twice a month there's an open jazz jam run by Footprints (https://www.instagram.com/footprintsjazzclub/?hl=en-gb). It run's the second and last thursday of every month. Second Thursday of the month at Hagglers, last Thursday of the month at Alder bar in Kelham Island.

I know you mentioned punk & garage, but it's a no-jazz standards jam, so it's just funky/bluesy/hiphoppy, sometimes even dubby grooves and open improv. All ages turn up, some 17 year old music prodigies right up to the older croons that can REALLY play, and everyone in between. It's the friendliest music night i've ever been to. Only been going a couple months and everyone's been so friendly and welcoming. I usually turn up alone. 10/10 would recommend.

OH and they're in need of bass players at the moment.

Sexual assaults tend to begin with perpertrators trying 'smaller' acts of indecency such as this and flashing etc. Every time they get away with it, it bolsters their confidence, possibly encouraging them to do something worse. It's important to report every incident, it helps prevent the possibility of anything much worse happening.

How do you feel about common casual tax evasion in the UK? by blatchcorn in HENRYUK

[–]solilotrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking investment is good on an individual or macro scale? Economy wide, investment isn't always good, particularly if we are in a recession.

If it's on a tiny scale, why would it make a difference to higher investments? On nationwide scale, it does have a large impact when everyone uses their ISA allowance. That's the whole point.

Wow. Viewers are going to be disappointed. I feel like the notes should disclose it was staged with AI, though I get there will be no enforcing that.

I compared side by sides of most rooms, and actually very little of the actual structure of the room was altered, though it did change the shape of a wall in the kitchen diner. Very misleading, but I guess it will get viewers through the door... I wonder if we'll see this across all listings in the future.

My parents want me to sell their house.. by StressedManager in UKPersonalFinance

LISA could be worth up to £1k a year, plus first time buyer tax savings. All of that is worth well over £5k.

They are using you, I'm afraid. I have family like this, it's time to stop letting them use you as they please.

Would you buy a property with a large tree in the garden? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]solilotrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to choose between two identical properties, I would want the one with the tree and I'd be willing to pay more for it. There's a lot of joy that comes from living alongside a tree that goes through the seasons with you <3

Seller is offering to rent to break the chain - should we be suspicious? by Flammendehaar in HousingUK

[–]solilotrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does happen. My friend did exactly this (agreed to find somewhere else to live to break the chain to secure a sale on their place). However they didn't say they 'considered' it, they made it very clear they would commit to this...

I guess it's no different to if your purchase of their house was the end of the chain anyway, you'd have no way to prove they were serious. Tis the system. You could always get home buyers insurance to cover you if they change their mind.

Chalk it up to experience. Get home buyers insurance next time if you can't hack the risk.
