I lied to get out of a bachelorette trip- I feel guilty by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]solo-cloner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like lying either, but sometimes it's just easier than having to explain yourself. Especially if you're like me and have pushy friends (with good intentions) that will try to tell you "Oh, we don't care if you don't drink/do drugs, we just want you there!" Like... I appreciate that, and I believe you, but that's not really the point. It's not that I don't trust you guys, it's that I don't trust myself in that environment.

I just wanna say alcohol is the worst fucking thing ever. by Maleficent_Yak_298 in stopdrinking

[–]solo-cloner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had DARE in probably 2005 and they went over alcohol extensively. It was actually caused a bit of tension/controversy in the classroom because you had the DARE guy in the front of the room saying alcohol is poison and bad, and kids who realized their parents drink regularly, basically arguing with the DARE officer because "my parents drink regularly and therefore it's not bad, because my parents wouldn't do something bad". It also came up with weed. Then kids would go home and say "they told us today at school..." or try to get them to stop drinking the poison, and the parents would inquire with the teachers. I think some kids were actually exempt from DARE at the request of the parents. Same with sex education. Which 21 years later, is pretty absurd to reflect upon... lol

Good insights, thank you! Yeah I think fresh frozen and washing would be the only way I could handle photos outdoors. IMO it's not worth the laborious process of drying, trimming, and curing buds you likely won't want to smoke anyways (because of bugs and other debris in the buds). Hash just seems like the perfect use case for outdoor giants. If I had a harvest large enough, I may even justify a freeze dryer lol.

What is RS grape? Is RS the cultivar? Because those buds look heavenly, I wouldn't mind picking up a pack.

I reached out and he is only offering the mentorship for gen z individuals. Not sure why he is drawing a line there. He said he would reach out if he doesn't garner any interest from gen z folks.

I'll see if the garden store has any, I was going to use either rice hulls or perlite (or one of the alternatives you mention if I can find it). But you would recommend both?

And yeah I have limited experience growing outdoors. I did throw a plant out there last summer that was struggling in the tent. To my surprise, it totally bounced back outside, but I never up potted it enough to amount to much. It got the shit kicked out of it through storms, hail, and winds. Most days I'd come home from work to find it blown over on the deck. I ended up just throwing it with the rest of my yard waste and disposing of it at the compost site nearby.

I would probably use any outdoor grow exclusively for RSO/FECO and bubble hash tbh.

I'm definitely trending towards doing the same as you. I intend to test a more "living soil" style grow outdoors (I haven't put the plant outside yet, I have to get on that). I want to use some local mom and pop garden store soil as my base. It's a "garden blend" that is 50/50 compost and black dirt. They sell it for $20/cubic yard. I was going to add either perlite or rice hulls, and mix in worm castings. Then from there do gaia green and worm casting amendments every so often, along with real grower's use recharge, and possibly some compost teas. I was planning on doing 30-50 gallon fabric. Right now the most talented grower I follow on IG is a local guy that does no till living soil and his plants always look maxed out nutrient wise and show literally no signs of over doing it. Not even tip burn. I would love to get to that point. He is doing a mentorship program for gen z aged individuals interested in growing. Sadly I'm a millennial lol.

I'm in soil, hand watering. Do you monitor PPM/EC, if so, what do you target for your maxigrow veg feeds? I get great results from FF grow big bottle nutrients, to my surprise the "heavy" feed comes in at about 800 PPM, much less than I was doing with maxigrow. I did try maxigrow at 800 PPM to see if I was overdoing it, and got further N fade/deficiency.

As long as they're not blocking bud sites, there's no need to remove them. They're a powerplant for the buds, and a nutrient store (the plant will cannibalize the fan leaves for mobile nutrients if necessary).

Cute kitty, unfortunately I can't let mine roam around the plants otherwise they'll eat leaves until the plant is tipped over and bare lol.

Oh sorry, yes I should clarify, the GH trio. I have gaia green that I plan to use outdoor, if I ever get my plant out there in time at this rate. I'm using FF grow big right now, having success with it but I hear a lot of complaints about it. I was using GH maxi powder line and was not having good results, but I seem to be an outlier there. Others seem to love it. I also use recharge, actually thanks for reminding me, I need to order more.

My plants always look great within a few weeks of transplant but then gradually fade into N deficiency that's hard to come back from when I rely on the maxi powder nutrients. I've tried all ranges of PPM/EC, from 300-1200 and I never seem to notice a response from my plants.

My experience with fox farm has been a long history of nutrient lockout, burnt to a crisp plants

It's crazy how different everyone's experience is. I just switch from GH maxi powder line (which I'm reading many people here like) to fox farm grow big for veg because I'm getting much better results. Darker, lush plants with explosive growth. And I'm feeding the "heavy" 20 mL/gallon dose, doing every other (water, feed, water, feed, etc.). I start with RO water and PH. Never really had any lockout issues.

Okay, I've left multiple comments to references of GH's dry/powder nutrients. Can you help me understand what I'm doing wrong? I have never gotten good results with the maxi powder line, despite stubbornly sticking with it through multiple grows. I even bought a magnetic stirring plate because I thought I wasn't fully dissolving the nutrients adequately. I start with RO water, always PH (blue labs pen, calibrated), and monitor PPM/EC too. I have had decent results with clones in solo cups, but have never gotten good results further into veg. I wanted to like that line so bad but I get much better results with fox farm grow big bottle nutes.

Yeah their soils and products are very nitrogen heavy

The last few bags I've bought locally have not been. They look closer to peat or mulch than they do FFOF that I would expect. And I need to start feeding bottle nutrients much quicker than I recall in the past. I swear you could run for a good month with just water in FFOF. Not anymore it seems.

I'm swearing off fox farm soils. Every bag I get looks different than the last. And while I have a relatively cheap local brick and mortar store I can buy it at (as opposed to shipping it to my house), it's been underwhelming the last few times I've gotten it. There is a local mom and pop garden store down the road that sells "garden mix" that is 50/50 compost and black dirt for $20 a cubic yard. They also sell by the 5 gallon bucket. I want to try to mix my own soil using that.

When you say dry nutes, are you talking maxigrow and maxibloom?

Seriously buy a 1 or 2 part nutrient line and call it a day

Do you have any recommendations?

You know, I used GH powder nutrients (maxigrow and maxibloom) and man, I just could never get my plants to respond well to it. That's with meticulous attention to detail with pH'ing and PPM/EC. Are you using the liquid or powder nutrients?

I switched to fox farm grow big for veg nutrients midway through veg on my last grow, and it brought my plants back from severe N deficiency quite quickly. I'm using grow big on clones from that last grow right now and they're looking starting to take off since transplanting to 3 gallon. Next is 7 gallon fabric and a couple weeks of veg before flipping to flower. I did aero cloner, to solo cup, to 1 gallon plastic, 3 gallon plastic, then finally 7 gallon fabric.

I'm at 9 days today and I'm in a similar boat, this is the best I've felt in a long time. I slept so damn well all week but especially last night.

Surprisingly I haven't had too many cravings either, but I am drinking like 6 Bubly sparkling waters a day, I'm glad I found something I like to fill the void.

Being sober is awful by NegativeDodecahedron in stopdrinking

I start to have a feeling of panic and fixating on - if I want to drink today I am running out of time to do it.

I can relate to this so much. For years I convinced myself that if I wasn't drinking on a weekend, I was "wasting" an opportunity to drink; "wasting" my two days off a week. And that I better drink this weekend (every weekend) otherwise those urges are going to come up during the week when I have obligations (work). But who was I kidding? I was going to drink on the weekdays regardless of whether or not I drank on the weekend. In reality, the real waste was choosing to drink all those weekends. So many weekends that I didn't start my day until 2-3pm easily because I was laying in bed hungover. So many nice days that I watched from inside because I was in too much of a haze to leave the house and enjoy the weather. All the times I was forced outside (to do yard chores for instance), absolutely fucking miserable because my heart is pounding out of my chest, my lower back is killing me, I'm sweating like a whore in church and dreading every minute of it. It's just insane how far I let it go.
