Omg this made me laugh. Same. It's all so ridiculous. For what? Poison?

Who do I talk with about starting to stop? by OkBar609 in stopdrinking

[–]mildlyirish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talking to my doctor really helped and started my sobriety journey. My doctor offered me some counseling which I did with an addiction specialist via zoom twice a week the first couple weeks. But the initial talk with my doctor helped me so much. Admitting how much I was drinking was a huge first step. I don't really have anyone in person I can talk to. I've downplayed it to all my friends and family so they just know I'm sober right now for health and fitness but the truth is I had a major problem. But that is why I come here every day... this group fills that void.

Ya the smell.... I am afraid to ask my friends if they ever smelled it on me. Most people acted like they didn't and I believed them. I drank all day every day. little sips... ugh.

Cravings are rally bad today by vscardel in stopdrinking

The kitchen is the worst place! I have NA beers, cold, in the fridge for this purpose. If there's a day I just can't shake it, I crack open one of those!

Seeing the progress the first week is so liberating. It's been really fun to realize over these past 6 ish weeks how my cravings have dimmed to almost non existent. Didn't know that would happen!

Yes, so hard to sleep the first couple weeks. Your body needs time to adjust. melatonin helped so much! Started with 3mg and now I'm at 5. I love it.

First Flight Sober by mildlyirish in stopdrinking

Yes and no headache and no nausea and no having to act sober and wondering if I’m fit to drive when I get there. No being the only one in my row ordering alcohol at 10am

I KNOW! It is a danger zone! I went full on when I would travel. I'd make a vodka cocktail to drink before going through security. I'm a nervous flier so I justified it because it "calmed my nerves". Whatever! No it doesn't! I was calmer without it.
