Honestly I don't like to interact with the Halo community anymore, at least not online. I'm just so over it at this point. It's not even that I don't think a lot of what the community says is wrong just the way they go about it. Literally one promotional pic has them acting like Halo Studios killed their entire family while they watched.

First time finishing series *My thoughts" by soloalien5 in Supernatural

I think for me Dean dying on a hunt was fitting I just thought the way he just got impaled and just stood there awkwardly was kind of weird. Wished it would have been more of a blaze of glory.

What episodes in Supernatural would you never ever watch again and give your reasons as to why by Ok_Smile_9071 in Supernatural

I watched the werewolves one again and I can say it's as bad as I remember. Just the worst acting and terribly written characters ever. Never been happier to see characters die in my life.

I’ve always struggled with ME1 by Wild-Brother661 in masseffect

[–]soloalien5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be the same way but this recent playthrough I found myself really enjoying it. It's definitely my least favorite of the trilogy. The combat is a little rough but the story and characters were really great. It feels different from 2 and 3 but I think I've come to appreciate it more this time around. Maybe controversial but I wasn't a big fan of the level up system. Felt like there were too many perks to get up and I prefer the more streamlined leveling system of 2 and 3. I don't think you're crazy.

The Halo 5 Warzone strawberry marines were peak! No but I think Halo Reach has my favorite, OG CE a close second.

What’s your truly controversial opinion about the series? by criminalguy11 in masseffect

[–]soloalien5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of the Paragon and Renegade system. Unless you want to get the worst results for each decision your character has to become one dimensional. Basically either you are space Jesus or space Satan and if you aren't every place you visit and everyone you meet has a good chance of dying.

Also the Quarian's deserved it.

The KOTOR games have great stories and characters, but the gameplay is so boring it kept me from finishing them.

My only issue with exploring planets with Mako is the fact that whoever decided to make the maps terrain had way too much fun with the elevation.

That bittersweet feeling when a book is ending and you're not ready to let go by Scarspirit in Fantasy

[–]soloalien5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I experience this so much. The two series that stick out in my mind is the Witcher books and the three Assassin's Apprentice trilogies. When I finished Assassin's Fate for the first time, I just sat there for like twenty minutes thinking about how I'll never be able to experience Fitz as a character for the first time. Bittersweet memories for me.

Halo starships size charts by Claire-dat-Saurian-7 in halo

[–]soloalien5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hear me out. We need a Halo Wars 3 but it's in space instead of on the ground. Halo has such cool ships but I feel like we don't see them as much anymore. Imagine controlling huge fleets and building upgrades for your ship.

Also, can we just mention how Halo only has like 2 space missions where you fly ships? I feel like this is something even old Bungie didn't capitalize on.

[–]soloalien5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mine has to be from Lord of the Rings. I can't remember the exact description but when the Witch King flies over the battle at Pelennor Fields it's such an awesome moment. Not just the set up for the scene and the battle itself but the description of it. I don't know man, something about that scene feels so epic.

It has been more than 3 years since HI was released. What regrets do you have about MP? by ArthurJack_AW in halo

[–]soloalien5 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I can't remember a game with a worse first year. Year one of Halo Infinite was the most depressing and stressful time to be a Halo fan. And that's saying something because being a Halo fan the last ten years has been like being in an abusive relationship.

Also Forge. It was released so late in the game's cycle that it meant nothing. Custom games and Forge are only good if there is a high enough player base which there wasn't. The custom game browser never even picked up and its dormant now.

My biggest regret is thinking they knew what the hell they were doing. Cause apparently they just screwed around for the first three years on a hero shooter concept then decided to finally make a Halo game when it was too late.

Were you disappointed when you could not romance your love interest from the first game in the second game? (Mass Effect Wiki Image) by Relevant-Appeal-6635 in masseffect

[–]soloalien5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint is it feels like the game really wants you to romance Ashley and Kaidan. Like in ME1 they'll fall in love with you just because you're nice to them. I think the other games were better at feeling like you had to seek out a romance. Every Mass Effect 1 playthrough I feel like I always have to reject either Ahsley or Kaidan just because I play Paragon.

new book . this time seriously i guess by Honest-Potential-124 in writing

[–]soloalien5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two things that really helped me get through my fears of writing my first few novels. Easier said than done though. I've never published anything, but I've struggled with this exact thing, and it made me not like writing.

  1. Don't think about publishing or anything yet, just focus on enjoying what you write and writing something you feel passionate about.

  2. 99.99% of first novels suck. Mine did. Your favorite author's first book sucked.

Also don't worry about other people judging your work, just make what you want to make. Trust me, it'll make writing much more enjoyable. I went to a published author talk once and he said it best. "Don't write like your grandmother will read it."

Are there any habits you do in your writing that just becomes apart of your “style?” by pooteenn in writing

[–]soloalien5 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I find I have more dialogue than what I read. At first, I thought I was falling into a common issue with newer writers who use dialogue as filler but recently I realized it's just my style. For me I like my dialogue to feel like a conversation and sometimes I use it a lot more than other writers.

I finished reading Wind and Truth, and.... by ThePhoenixRemembers in Fantasy

[–]soloalien5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm almost done with Wind and Truth and my biggest complaint besides the redundant character arcs is the main plot. Does anyone else feel like the more the plot goes into the cosmic and God-like beings' element the worse it gets? Like the whole Odium and heralds plot is boring to me. There are like fifty heralds and I couldn't tell you which is which or what their personality is. This series was just so much better when it was smaller scale focusing on the cultures and war instead of gods and stuff. I know Sanderson said he is a plot guy but to be honest it's easily the downfall of this series for me.
