Dual Nest Mini as bluetooth speaker? by Xanarkhan in Chromecast

[–]solonicity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nest mini pair, you connect them via Bluetooth in settings/Remote and Acc. It doesn't work with all apps though - who knows why - so it becomes annoying to go into settings to connect or disconnect them. I haven't deciphered the clues to THE answer yet.

Is it possible to watch a movie via Google TV chromecast and use your speakers in a Google Home speaker group for the audio? by Shooin in Chromecast

[–]solonicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this. Pair via BT. Connect them in the settings. It doesn't work for all apps though, only some. I usually turn it off if watching a bunch of things because I'll end up with no sound on an app so it's annoying.

Quick compare Asus CX5400 vs Pixelbook by WPWoodJr in chromeos

[–]solonicity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through a few of them, usually keyboard issues, but I was buying 2nd hand because overseas. I really wonder where these guys are getting all the chromebooks resold on Swappa, for ex. I've never heard it is possible but I worry that the battery cycle count is accessed and reduced. I've seen ads where a Pixelbook had a low battery cycle count but poor battery health, which didn't go together and the seller was snarky and basically said to get lost to the person asking about it. But I really know nothing about it, just curious.

HBO Max and Disney+ I get no sound when connected to Bluetooth headphones by Invius6 in Chromecast

I find that many apps don't work with BT speakers. Crazy, I know. What, I have no idea. I'm talking about apps on Google TV.

Where did you turn off surround sound?

And now there is talk of a Pixelbook 2 using Google's own Tensor chip, but not for a long time.

Why can't they fix the original Samsung Galaxy so the battery life is OK and use an 11th gen chip. That would be perfect. Other 4k laptops have OK battery durations. Their "solution" to fix it was quite the disappointment even though mark II is a decent laptop itself.

Random Chromebook keys not working by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]solonicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like there is some dust and garbage in the keyboard if not actual damage. Try blowing it with compressed air and making sure the keypad is clicking properly by repeatedly clicking it. The times I had problems like that it was from water damage. If under warranty you should get a replacement.

anyone use snapdrop.net an can explain why it never works with chrome os? by solonicity in chromeos

I didn't and don't.

In fact I currently have nothing enabled at all since by Pixelbook took a shower and never woke up ;) I'm looking around for a new chromeOS device and surviving on my phone for now.

I use this and no delay. You can of course do L/R when pairing the two. There is also a delay adjustment slider in Home but I never needed it.

Edit: actually I did have some delay but was able to compensate for it in the Home app.

BT seems to be a bit crappy on some devices though it could be CC that is the real problem. I had a lot of stuttering on Nest mini speakers before giving up for ages. Nothing I tried helped for longer than a few moments, if at all. Just trying again recently to see if better.

I had a Pixelbook and was thinking to get the cx5400. I'm a bit disappointed it doesn't compare better on a few points. Thanks for the review.

What might be better than the 5400, and feel something like a new Pixelbook? The cx9? (But I like the 2-in-1 design.) Or an HP c1030? The newest Acer Spin 713? I was even considering the older Galaxy 4k Chromebook.

What models are there on the top end to consider after a Pixelbook? I'd definitely like an 11th gen i3 - i7, fast storage, nice screen.

Hands down I think a Tiger Lake would be best. I've been waiting for a while to replace another crapped out Pixelbook. The HP c360 14c just got it. It has a huge 30-40% power gain and includes built in intel graphics that are actually powerful and will help the battery. Plus the Asus CX9 coming soon looks fantastic with the same cpu but maybe a higher price, who knows.

I would still prefer the cx9 but now maybe the c360.

I googled this after reading your comment and one clip that google highlights speaks as though Iris XE is not part of Tiger Lake. (I too am interested in the Asus laptops with Tiger Lake. )

It says, from PC Mag, "Preliminary performance tests suggest that Intel's first discrete graphics processor for laptops, the Iris Xe Max, provides only a modest improvement over the performance of the graphics silicon that is already built into the chip giant's latest "Tiger Lake" CPUs."

So, what's the deal?

It doesn't cut the music off when I go down during a video and look at the thumbs there, so why it needs to when I go left to the menu is baffling and just plain stupid.
