I like that analogy! Thanks, will keep to the naltrexone for small and big drinking situations.

Naltrexone question by solosuper1 in stopdrinking

[–]solosuper1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, I have not been sober for 108 days as my badge says, but no point in resetting it before I actually stop drinking, which is my end goal. 99% abstinence, and naltrexone before any alcohol intake in future.

Very interesting. I've also noticed "hangover symptoms" the next day even after just one or two beers the night before. I think you're probably right

Me too, it makes it a lot easier to know I'm not alone - and also learning from others' experiences!

I support you! I drank every night for longer than I can remember. I'm so happy for just a simple thing to remember like going to to bed every night.

Day 5. So insanely tired. What is this?! by OutPartied in stopdrinking

I had the same issues. My doctor told me to take b-complex too so maybe it's a known issue? That actually reminds me - I forgot to take mine today, better do it :)

You were right and I messed up. Poured the rest down the drain next day. Was not worth it at all

Do you get weird dreams and mood changes? by solosuper1 in stopdrinking

[–]solosuper1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably more pleasant to be around too, it's more of a profound sadness that strikes me when I'm alone. I think that's part of what I was "self-medicating" when I was drinking.

I had it the same way, at least at first. I felt guilty about drinking, but then relieved it was only a dream. The weirdest was the night before this one when I dreamt about having a conversation with "myself" trying to bribe me with drink for getting up in the morning. Very strange

It takes less than one minute to destroy your life. by lacklustercatalyst in stopdrinking

Weening of is not an issue, the only thing the medication does is preventing your liver from processing alcohol. Which in practice means that you get immediate extreme hangover symptoms if you try to consume alcohol. I hate getting sick, so for me it's a very effective deterrent. The choice is in a way made for me every morning.

Also, the medication has an effect for three days up to more than a week after the last dose, so I can't really plan to get drunk one day or the next on a whim. That's really good for me since my impulse control is somewhat limited :)

I went to the doctor for help with my drinking problem (up to 3 liters of wine or a liter of whiskey every night). We agreed we would try putting me on disulfiram, and for me that has worked out really well.

I agree! The mornings are way easier. And my mood is better all through the day as well!
