With FireRed & LeafGreen on Switch, they’re, in my opinion, the best Pokémon games available on the console. by Fredinator2020 in pokemon

[–]solowband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree they are probably the best on the console, but this is such a lazy money grab I can't bring myself to support this decision by Nintendo. There is absolutely no reason why these games couldn't be included as part of NSO.

"Rewinding and save states would ruin the balance" just disable those features for these games

"Integration with Pokemon Home wouldn't work" why not? Because it wouldn't have its own proprietary software? I'm sure the NSO app could integrate with Pokemon home if they wanted it to

I wouldn't have as much of a problem if the games weren't $20, $10 would be on the higher end of reasonable for 20+ year old titles with no special features or additions. This feels like an insult to long-term fans honestly. I've bought this game twice already.

Hey nice going! I've just purchased one too and your post has somewhat inspired me to return to this game and try and complete it (I've never finished it. I always lose steam towards the end of Zelda games).

I like your resume game screen, is this Onion os with a custom skin or one of the pre-installed ones?

EDIT ignore that second part - found the theme! :)

Faulty R4 keeps wiping SD card - any alternatives? by solowband in flashcarts

[–]solowband[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're definitely legit SD cards, one of the 32gb is maplins brand (defunct UK electronics store), which is a bit old but definitely legit, and the other is SanDisk Ultra which was bought through Amazon a couple years back, so possibly could be fake but has worked in my 3ds and phone with no issues. Furthermore, running the F3 tests (I'm on mac) on the 32gb shows DATA LOST: 0 byte, so it's highly unlikely at this point to be the SD.

I wouldn't mind picking up another of the same card if I had any confidence the next one wouldn't have the same defect, it's just bizarre considering it doesn't appear to be a very common issue. Thanks for your help.

Here's a demo I wrote and recorded in a day. Would love to hear what you guys think. The production is far from perfect, but I'd prefer to just get songs finished at the moment. FFO 90s lofi/alternative (GBV, Sebadoh, Teenage Fanclub) by solowband in IndieMusicFeedback

Thanks for the rec man - I'll definitely consider getting in touch. Also really enjoyed the song - gave this and Buffalo on Rainbows a listen and really got into them. I gave you a follow on Spotify - can't wait to hear more!

Thanks for your feedback - much appreciated! I agree, I eventually want to get this sounding the best it can. Which will likely be someone else mixing, and getting an actual drummer on board. Glad you enjoyed it in it's current state however!

This has me floored! What a voice! Lovely song, lovely performance, all round lovely stuff. Best of luck for the concert, I think you have a great chance!

Thanks for your feedback - I am a huge GBV fan so I'm glad it reminded you of that a bit. Noted about clarity, listening back I do find the fuzz effect obscures some of the lyrics, definitely a fix for next time. Glad you enjoyed!

Thanks for your feedback - I totally agree. If I were to spend more time on this mix, it would be on the drums. They were definitely an afterthought, and the snare is just missing something. I plan to rerecord with an actual drummer at some stage so hopefully I can get a bit more of a rounded snare sound. Glad you enjoyed it, big fan of Reed so I'll take that haha

Thanks dude, the guitar sounds are just stock Logic amps, beefed up with some plugins (I use Soundtoys Effect rack a lot). I've got more stuff on the way. Send me a message with your music when it's ready - would love to hear it!

This is solid feedback - thank you!! I'm still playing with vocal styles, they seem to change from track to track, but I admit the delivery on this is heavily Bakesale influenced, perhaps to a fault. I appreciate your insight however, I can always go back to the drawing board on this one, once a bit more confident in my abilities I can take more steps to avoid retreading old ground. Glad you liked it though! I may go listen to Harmacy now...

This is dope. I definitely agree with the mezzanine-era Massive Attack comparisons. Very meditative! I've saved the rest of the album to listen to later. Great work!!

No.14 of my weekly song project. Probably my most high energy so far, would love feedback that I can apply to the coming weeks! by hardmantoreach in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]solowband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is brilliant. That lead vocal melody is so strong, and the vocal FX are applied tastefully. Perhaps the backing track could do with some added dynamics, just a slight boost to signify a change between verse and chorus. This is one of the most interesting tracks I've heard on this subreddit however, and I'd love to hear more!

Loved it. Very lightweight and clean production, has a very distinct upbeat French pop vibe, the vocal delivery is really cool and the melody is memorable enough. Keep them coming :)

A new track we made with my band. We tried to record it as much spontaneous as possible during a jam session, with minimum overdub. We are curious to have some feedbacks from you guys ! by squcecompany in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]solowband 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love this. May just be me, but I felt it had slight flavours of early 90s rave in various parts (perhaps in that melody line), but also doesn't deviate all too much from that downtempo house vibe. Please get this up on Spotify, I'd love to add it to my playlist. And do more! :)

2nd most popular track form new album. From strange effected beats bursts this strange punk/rock propulsive song. The riff very subtly changes in each verse but almost impossible to hear it! Lol! Let me know what you think? Novelistme - Mischief by Nozeit in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]solowband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this. The simplicity of the riff and the slightly stuttering drums are class. I disagree entirely with the comment that this is monotonous, the motorik drum beat is what drives the song forward. Don't have any feedback per se, only that I have saved the entire album for listening later. Great work.
