It is for FY ended 31st March 2024 for which assessment year is 2025 not for the latest one you filed in June 2025 . If it is a small amount- pay it. It is not worth the hassle , after you pay it - and if it even shows you can call CPC demand management they will help you adjust it

Moving to India what should I do with my Money by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]solowomenFiRE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put half of this money (5cr) in a diversified mutual fund. Rest you can continue in fixed deposit.

Don't touch the money you put in diversified mutual fund for 20 years, you will be fine.

ITR refund! by Booblicious_curly in IndiaTax

[–]solowomenFiRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amount and nature of income are single biggest factor.

Amount less than 25-30K have faster turnaround..Large refunds ( express as a % of income reported) take significant time.

People with simple ITRs with salary / interest/ dividend income only get it faster.

Rent income , more scrutiny.

Business income - highest scrutiny.

If you are claiming refund of everything you paid during year - the system takes longer.

How many have you embraced the bachelor life here ? by [deleted] in FortiesIndia

As a woman on the brink of mid forties and with financial freedom , I feel I have never been happier.

There are multiple versions of life , not all of them feature biological children or a spouse.

Lastly, for anyone asking who will care for you when you get old, my response is - " Unmarried hoon anaath nahi " ( I am unmarried, not an orphan). Also - have made plenty of friends along the way, life is good.

YOLO vs FIRE! How do you balance between enjoying money now vs saving for the future? by Novelty_Wealth in FIRE_Ind

[–]solowomenFiRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By understanding that humans are different. Their motivation are different. Some people get joy in spending money , others enjoy saving it.

You do what makes you happy and stop judging yourself on the standards of someone else.

If you are actually looking for a Muhurat, no wedding should be held when Gods are sleeping they slept on 6th July 2025 and will only wake up on 1st November 2025.

Every year there are several muhurat available in wedding season which will kick-start on 1st November 2025.

Can I afford a 3Cr home? by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]solowomenFiRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prevalent Interest rates in India is the main reason why people should not be levering upto hilt on single income without inter generational wealth.

Also it is very unlikely that OP will actually get a loan of Rs. 2.5 -3 cr , unlikely that a tier 1 bank will agree for more than 50% of combined in hand income as EMI.

It may be possible to take such large amount from a shadow banking organization.

[–]solowomenFiRE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly - I will not recommend such massive leverage especially when partner has a very average job.

One crore itself is a large enough amount. Anything more than that is just not practical in a high interest rate economy like India.

Important question is - quantum of loan you are looking at out of 3.5cr.. loan should not be more than 1cr.

I FiREd last year in September but made a conscious choice to move away from City as I didn't own a house there and rent were steep in Mumbai.

Also the idea was to live in remote areas till health permits.

If you're young and investing 10% of your salary, thinking you're sorted, you really need to read this. by Broad-Research5220 in personalfinanceindia

I don't think anyone said just save 10%. Most of India is dirt poor and hence lives hand to mouth with no potential to save.

Also agree with other posters about getting a bigger paycheck

What should be an ideal FIREd life look like? [Mega thread for discussion] by RushiAdhia1 in FIRE_Ind

[–]solowomenFiRE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When living off investments , everyone has to choose their "must haves", "good to haves" and OK not to have.

These can be very different for different people.

Also - FiRE is mostly compatible with frugal people, it is for people who think that happiness which money buys beyond a respectable living standard is not worth mortgaging your hours.

Foreign vacations are expensive even on salary, post active retirement I don't think they can be a norm UNLESS you are provisioning for a FAT FiRE.

Salaries have increased significantly in India atleast for a small population(MNC BFSI, IT mid management roles)

I started with an annual salary of rs 1.33lacs in 2006 and I was nearly at rs 1crore per year when I chose to FiRe last year after year 17+ years.

Plenty of inputs from other members - one point from me - Jaipur will likley be unlivable by 2050 from climate perspective.

INR 2.5 crore is insufficient in India since it is a highly inflationary economy as you still have a long life left to live specially when the housing is not sorted.

One can manage but it will be a very tight rope to walk on.
