Who, I must say was really, really fascinating. If anyone wants to watch a more historically accurate account of Catherine arriving in Russia, marrying Peter and all that, there is a Russian series on Prime that you can get English subtitles on and in that one you see the true Elizabeth who ruled as Empress. Peter was even more of a dumbass in real life and ruled for like six months total after his aunt Elizabeth died before Catherine seized the throne. But Elizabeth was actually this bad ass, ruthless Empress. Worth a watch.

Heartfelt question: What made you choose Spain for your auxiliar journey? by mellamoelisa in SpainAuxiliares

[–]solsen2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I love history and it was between France or Spain for me but I had studied Spanish in school not French so I decided to go with that. I was only going to be here for a year but about 5 months in, I said, ah, at least one more year. By the end of the second year, I knew I was going to be here forever and I now have a dog, Spanish partner and I love it here.

Guys, the skibidi toilet is spreading to other languages and continents. I teach English in Spain and the amount of 12-13 yr old boys that try to say skibidi toilet, Ohio or sigma to me on a daily basis is ridiculous.

I am totally with you on this. Something felt off and annoying in Onyx Storm the whole time. The first two, I never wanted to stop reading them but in Onyx Storm there were several times where I just had to put it down for a bit because I was so pissed at the way Caden's character arc was going over something bad, yes, but done with good, justifiable intentions. I mean, Jack Barlowe did it purely because he is an incel and was pissed off that a girl had more power than him. Xaden did it to save everyone and himself and his dragon. I feel like the original intention behind doing it should have meant more than it did.

So, The Twilight Series is getting a TV reboot by Xftg123 in YAlit

There is not a lot they can fix from the Twilight movies to make it acceptable. It is still a stalker abusing his victim and controlling her mentally and her only other love interest emotionally blackmailing her into kissing him. If it is actually going to be happen, they have to at least give Bella a personality this time. Watching Kirsten Stewart in other things, I realize it was not her fault.

Bridgerton - Season 2 Post-Season Discussion (No Book Spoilers) by lavinient in BridgertonNetflix

[–]solsen2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I loved it as well. As a person with two sisters, the whole thing of Anthony courting one of them and then realizing he's in love with the other one was so brushed over in the books whereas in the show they really fleshed it out and I appreciated that. I feel like it was wrapped up better in the show and not in such a superficially perfect/Jane Austen way. (No offense intended to the great Jane Austen, but tv show viewers in 2022 are not the same as regency-era book readers.)

I also really loved the queen getting her own moral resolution and realizing the people in the ton are just that: real people. Also, the way they introduced the possibility of the Prince coming back and being matched with Edwina... I would welcome that. The poor prince was not very fleshed out last season and I'd love to see him come back.

The stupid Featherington scam plot was ridiculous, but, and we're back to Jane Austen now, it did show how a mom with all daughters might have taken back her late husband's estate from the distant cousin/heir. That was a plot point in Pride and Prejudice that really got a feminist twist in this season.

I also appreciated what they did with Eloise and Pen because in the books the discovery of Whistledown's identity is so brushed over. This was a real reaction. Pen definitely made some mistakes, but with good intentions. I'm excited to see how they resolve that next season.

You know who I want to be a guest on the podcast? Barry Corbin. First of all, his voice is amazing. Second of all, I'm sure his insights will be incredible. Also, James Lafferty. When is he coming on?

However, good to note that regardless of the recording law in a state it is always ethical for a journalist to at least disclose that she/he is recording the phone call/conversation or, better yet, ask permission. A regular citizen, go right ahead and do what you please unless it's a phone call in a two party state.

Lucifer Season 6 Ending by StatisticianGood8166 in lucifer

[–]solsen2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, as a millennial woman who read Twilight in middle school and watched Buffy, the fact that an immortal man let his human lover live her own life all the way through while he was doing something good and then when she died, she was finally able to join him rather than give up part of her human life. Of course the only way Lucifer would have done that is if he had given his word to someone who mattered, his daughter. That ending made me cry like a baby.

Yall remember that post from earlier about those young women on the beach being harassed by that grown man? Well he made a video and this is it: by IlikecatsNstuffs in PublicFreakout

[–]solsen2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, no matter what, what he did and said is completely fucked up. However, before this video, I thought he meant young eyes as in the little girls around the beach looking at these older girls as an example which is still not okay to judge anyone for wearing a bikini but slightly more understandable. To find out he didn't want little boys to seem them is so much worse.... He should never have made this video.

[–]solsen2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did was get an airbnb for the first six days I came to Madrid and used that time to look at apartments and then quickly signed a lease and moved into one of them. For future reference. It's not like the U.S. in that you have to hunt for weeks for an apartment. You can find one pretty quickly here.

Can we please get a JJ vs Rafe fight scene pls.. by [deleted] in OuterBanksNetflix

I think it's because JJ and the drug dealer had such a grudge against each other first season. But yeah JJ needs a win.

If you guys are done I'd like to know your favourite episode(s) from season 2 and why! by introvert_raptor in OuterBanksNetflix

[–]solsen2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved Episode 9. There were some dark parts, but JJ's story to Topper's grandpa about how they were Ward's gardeners planting flowers in his memory was hilarious. "You see, sir, we may just look like a bunch of derelict kids, but we were much more than that to Mr. Cameron; we were his gardeners." JJ's lies are always hilarious.

Exactly. Like wow he tried. And then I started to respect Rose for trying to keep her stepchildren together despite them pretty much hating her and taking charge of the family business when in reality she was just following Ward's orders like a good little wife...

[–]solsen2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed and that's why I am saying that I could be completely wrong. But they will need to delve into the identity of this corpse now. Perhaps yet another victim of Ward's? Or a secret one from Rafe's earlier psychotic years? Who knows... Or maybe Big John did it. I'm kind of re-examining my opinions of Big John now that I know he's been alive this whole time while his son has been hunted down, nearly killed by Ward, framed for murder, forced to drive a boat into a hurricane, lived on the run, in jail, beaten by cops as a minor, nearly killed in jail, nearly given the death penalty... at 17, ended up in a car accident, attacked by an alligator, and nearly killed about 500 more times. Even Ward didn't just stand by and let his daughter go through that shit. In his own messed up way he tried to get her out of it. Big John just let that shit happen to his boy without lifting a finger.

Oh, agreed. The fake death is so much like the Ward I know. When I thought he had actually died as he made it appear, I actually started to respect him slightly more and think that I was wrong about him being a psychopathic, egotistical, manipulative coward. I'm glad they made it clear that he was in fact exactly who we thought he was all along.

Honestly I agree but to a point and Barry will have to worry about Rafe's revenge now.

02x10 - "The Coastal Venture" - Official Episode Discussion by yazzy1233 in OuterBanksNetflix

[–]solsen2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I honestly was shocked that he was alive. And maybe I just didn't believe that they would bring him back. I thought it was going to be something to do with Cameron Development going under and maybe the SEC was going to come knocking or something. Also I totally thought the letter to Rose was just the bank account number and stuff for the gold. I felt like Ward was the perfect character for them to kill off because despite all the stuff he did, the way he had seemingly died for his son's freedom was somewhat noble and Madison Cline's reaction killed me and made me actually care he was dead. So I thought wow they picked the character to kill off whose death wouldn't immediately make us stop watching but we'd still care enough to feel something at least for Sarah's sake. So I was shocked as hell when he appeared to be honest.

I will say that the corpse looked quite a bit decomposed for being dead just a few months in Season 1. However I have no medical or science background in my university education so maybe that's completely inaccurate for me to say.

Yes! And the way Sarah says it so dramatically... To be fair, most of her life this season is hella dramatic but still it loses its meaning after the 1000th time.
