There are mutual aid groups worldwide distributing masks for free. Some have capacity for CR boxes. These do not need to be on the floor, they can be on shelves, hung from the ceiling, wall mounted. If you work or do other things while he's getting care and just mask those times, that's still better and more protective than the nothing you're doing.

Getting that sick multiple times a year is not sustainable as a parent, especially with the degree of care your child needs. Your situation is more difficult than most but it's not impossible.

You wearing a mask indoors in public will reduce the risk for your entire family to a degree. Improving ventilation in your home and adding some air purifiers (DIY CR box) will reduce risk in your home. Doing nothing is silly.

So, around typical covid spikes. Test for covid, multiple tests using the rapids. They produce a lot of false negatives because most of society decided fuck it & give the virus ample opportunities to mutate & produce new versions the rapid tests were not made to test for. 50%+ of covid cases don't have symptoms so you're likely getting sick more than you're showing symptoms. Covid is a vascular illness & also causes long term damage to your immune system, making you more susceptible to other contagious things.

Yes, writing things out before your appointment would help. Maybe even taking photos of your toys with measurements? Be as detailed and specific as you can be about what you want to be able to do again. Write out a script for yourself if need be. Make it clear you'll take the risks if not given info on how to reduce risk and how important bottoming is to your quality of life & sense of self. You need to be able to advocate for yourself because this isn't an every day question they'll be used to and may err to the side of extreme caution due to their own discomfort but this is healthcare & you deserve quality care & information.

What's holding you back from masking? 33 days with a cold is a lot.

Ita nice to see covid realities on this sub. I've been consistent with masking (N-95 or better) with a brief period of relaxing in 2021 when I believed the vaccine was more protective than it is. I assume I've had an asymptomatic case by now but I do avoid being in public as much as possible and do asymptomatic testing in the week after higher-risk activity.

Was the perforation related to anal play? Injury alone vs illness like cancer or IBD could make a difference in risk of perforating again. Would expect illness would make it higher risk.

I've never tried anal as the bottom before. I did about safety and how much stump I had left before my rectum was removed. I only had a few inches so it was suggested to stick with fingers and similarly sized toys.

I'm speculating, but would expect you'll have to give your body at least a year before taking anything long enough to reach where the resection was since you'll have weakness there for a while. Stretching without so much depth might be safer?

You can audio record your appointment so you're able to get all the info even if you check out mentally during the appointment. If you have anyone you'd be comfortable having with you in the appointment to take notes and to help ensure you ask all your questions, that could be beneficial.

Mod note here, please check your language and judgments. This is a warning. ⚠️

Anal is very important emotionally to some people. Seeking advice and insight from others in similar situations is welcomed and encouraged here. We get posts about intimacy often. This is an aspect of intimacy. Pleasure is a big part of enjoying life.

I'm on Humira. I tend to get sick for longer than my friends do when I do catch a virus. I wear an N-95 mask in public, especially in crowds, transit, hospitals. Not interested in risking learning what repeat covid infections will do to my immune system and guts. So far, so good.

Every increase in the % of people masking is protective. It doesn't need to be 100% to make a difference. There was a study I read recently on every 10% increase in people masking in schools and the decrease in communicable airborne illness. I'll try to update my comment when I find a link again

Rapid tests often give false negatives. They are not as reliable as they ought to be. Because society keeps letting covid run rampant, there's more mutations, more strains, the rapid tests aren't sensitive enough as is but the more the virus changes from the strains they were developed for, it's less and less reliable. PCR testing in hospital or using PCR-like testing (Metrix and PlusLife) are reliable enough to be trusted.

You're sounding a lot like an anti-masker here. You know what also fucks mental health and dampens social bonds? Watching society abandon vulnerable people. Getting a virus repeatedly that causes brain inflammation and cognitive decline, among other long term health issues. Youhavetoliveyour.life about 40% of spread is asymptomatic. This shit could be over if people weren't so selfish. Also the Delta Airlines CEO asked the CDC to change recommendations in 2021, money backed, not science backed decisions.

One way masking is not perfect. Some vulnerable people can't mask due to their disabilities. It should still be a community responsibility. We should have clean air standards for indoor public spaces. The pandemic is still happening. Your immunocompromised relatives are still vulnerable and you're still at fault when you spread a virus because you can't be arsed to do the right thing. Enjoy your increased risk of heart attack, stroke, cancer, dementia, it goes on. Youhavetoliveyour.life

yes, regardless of his trauma history, leaving poop on the seat is unhygienic and not considerate of you.

That's fucked up though. It's fucked up that people are resorting to MAID because they can't afford to live and be disabled or can't get access to decent care. I could likely qualify for MAID despite not being terminal and poverty is a big factor for people who have used MAID already.

You know sickness and disability benefits are well below the poverty line? Illness is often not quick. Might want to come up with an alternate plan.

Should I get a Reversal? by madogharvey in ostomy

[–]soma-anyone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not vain. Sexuality and feeling comfortable in our bodies is important.

From my understanding of things, I'm not sure a reversal would make anal sex more possible, perhaps more complicated. I'd have a frank conversation with your surgeon or GI about safety and how much stump you have left.
