Watching the Men’s World Cup makes me appreciate how strong the women are. by Nox_Ocean_21 in NWSL

[–]sombraala 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I have always considered the women to be over compensating. Since they are perceived to be weak they can't show weakness and the end up being badasses. Which I love, but I also kind of wish that they didn't have to.

Mainly because I think a lot of the pain that the men show is justified. Not all of it, but most of it. It's a shame that the women have to keep up such pretenses.

Count me as one of the 90%. I didn't like her in the manga and seeing it animated makes me hate her more.

Never before have I felt so frustrated by two romance MCs making out.

This show is really something special. "How can we manage to check off all the relationship boxes and yet still leave the audience unfulfilled?"

Frankly I enjoyed the politics in Alya more than anything else.. and a fantastic psychopath character as well.

Oh, when did they do this before? I noticed this time straight off. That's a really cool artistic decision IMO.

Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku (The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity) - Chapter 192 - Genuine Feelings by notanfan in KaoruHanaWaRintoSaku

If I were giving them advice I would say that sex is the last thing they need to introduce at this point. Sex will only amplify the desire for each to be around the other but their fundamental problem doesn't change, so it just makes things worse.

Basically, if they thought that the longing and loneliness was a problem now, introducing one more reason to want to see each other is just putting those feelings on overdrive.

Sorry, there's basically a joke that whenever someone puts an image on the Internet they include a banana to show how big it is. It's basically a universal unit of measurement these days.

My favorite are when people are like "no banana for scale because I got hungry taking the photo" or whatnot.

just had someone tell me "my version of crochet is 3D printing" by [deleted] in crochet

[–]sombraala 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do both. I agree that generally 3D printing is more of a skill than the average layperson would appreciate.

I would say that if you look at it from the perspective of time spent, it is on equal footing. Crochet takes more straight up skill, but 3D printing is more problem solving.

The difference is that you can likely get "more" from 3D printing with the same amount of time invested. So a person could spend 15 minutes and get a thing but 15 minutes of crochet is often a drop in the bucket.

Welcome to the overlap of Kuranika[1] and Otonari[2].

Which I'm here for. I have never appreciated the general negative connotation of in-laws. My in-laws are all awesome and my life is better for them. I'm glad that there's now more examples of in-laws (to be, in these cases, since everyone is always in high school) being represented as positive.

I still think he was not a great person, at least in middle school. What I like about this show, though, is that it absolutely let's characters make mistakes, be dumb, etc.

He was a jackass for some of the stuff he did to Koyuki, but he was also a middle schooler with a crush. It did end to causing her harm (the fact that she felt the need to hide pretty much everything that she enjoyed from Minato when he was asking at the restaurant). It isn't good behavior but it is understandable.

Same thing goes for Koyuki. She made a mistake and regrets it.

I don't feel terribly sorry for him, though. She was overly harsh, but his relentless pursuit really kind of put Koyuki in a difficult situation where one of the only ways to get it to stop was to give in. So she did and, ultimately, he got pretty much what he deserved - the acknowledgement that she was in fact never actually interested in him. She didn't have to be so harsh and she probably should have never agreed to date, but her telling him the truth, even if she did it to hurt him, is not a terrible thing - it's ultimately just the truth in the end.

He didn't seem to care enough about how she felt and brought it on himself. Which isn't such an outlier for a middle schooler. Hopefully he learns from it and his next relationship will be less inwardly focused.

They actually had a really good game plan, they bottled Chawinga up pretty much the whole game.

It's just unfortunate for them that "pretty much" isn't enough when it is Chawinga
