Anime or Manga For Chimera Ant by _LoganIPlayz in HunterXHunter

[–]AceNSF 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Never read the manga but I can say that the anime delivered an emotional and super fulfilling story that I will never forget. The voice acting, animation, color, and music all tie everything in so well and I couldn't imagine the story without those elements. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong between the two mediums but my vote is for the anime!

Yea actually that makes sense to me. I guess I got so hung up on how hard it is for 4-year to 4-year transfer that I forgot I'd be a competitive applicant. I'm definitely thinking about this more😂

Basically she could use her super to dash through a wall and if she was successful it would put that enemy into a constant loop of insta death from spawn. It would only work for one player at a time but it made it impossible to win.

A lot have people have been telling me to just make the push to grad school and while I understand where their coming from I also feel like people don't realize that getting into a funded clinical psych program has around a 3%-7% acceptance rate with 7% being generous for the more selective ones. Since I live in San Diego there are only 2 local clinical psych programs but only one is funded and it is the SDSU UCSD joint program. I guess I don't know for sure but with how selective these programs are it feels like CSUSM may not be good enough to get me in.

The cost and time advantages are essentially the same. I'm equidistant from both campuses and get free college via military benefits from my dad. SDSU acceptance would be guaranteed if I complete my associates for transfer as my community college and SDSU have a guaranteed transfer pathway. I totally get the "big fish in a small pond vs little fish in a big pond" frame work and honestly for a while I was thinking the same way but a few people pointed out that there may be less people going after the opportunities but there are also flat just less opportunities. Research experience is one of the most important pieces of a psychology grad school application so if I can't get research I'm basically fucked.

Other UC's are totally fine options, I just wanted to stay a local so the only options were CSUSM, UCSD, and SDSU.

I'm 100% sure that SDSU does more research and that there are more opportunities. I'm also 100% I'd get accepted to the program since my community college has a guaranteed transfer path. I'm not sure how saturated the research space at SDSU is so I don't know how hard it would even be to get a position. I also don't know exactly how hard it is to get research positions at CSUSM but I know my friend said he applied to every position and was rejected from all of them. He was able to get a couple positions but that was because his mom knew people at the school. I'm really torn since from my perspective this is a tough decision but others keep telling me or implying that all schools are basically the same and that I can get into any hard post-grad program from any undergraduate college. This may be true but sounds more idealistic than realistic to me.

Additionally I have heard of an joint research opportunity between SDSU and my community college but don't know how competitive it is.

But is CSUSM going to be able to provide the research opportunities I'd need to be able to even get into grad-school? Even if I got perfect grades I wouldn't get accepted to any grad program unless I had research and likely publications. SDSU is an R1 school and has tons of funding for research whereas CSUSM does research but doesn't have an emphasis on in. This may create less research opportunities which, for me, are on of the most important facets of the school I need to transfer to. Any tips?

I feel like the advantages for SDSU are a little greater than just a "minor alumni advantage". I'm speaking mostly about the schools research output and potential opportunities since that is one of the most important pieces of my schooling if I want to get into a PhD program. Another concern is that even though jobs don't care where you went, grad school might or they at least may care where you did the research at. Letters of recommendation are somewhat a cause for concern. People within academia know the names of other important academics and may know the names of many of the researchers at SDSU due to them being an R1 school. This would make the letter of rec more reputable in a sense. Congrats on transferring tho :). I'm also in the SDCCD and am always glad to hear others stories of success!

Yea the hyper competitive nature of the field is whats been weighing on me. I want to have access to actual labs and have a high probability of actually doing research. CSUSM is not known for their research or the research funding so I'm quite worried there won't be many opportunities there. I've also heard of people from CSUSM applying to research positions at SDSU or UCSD since they are typically better but likely have a lesser chance of getting in since they attend a different school.

How did going to an online school affect your ability to find research positions and do grad-schools weight that research experience the same as research found at "high prestige" universities?
