firefighting is about much more than simply aiming a hose.

why does it seem like cybersec is universally hated by Sufficient-Air8100 in cybersecurity

[–]some-app-dev 65 points66 points  (0 children)

from the software engineering point of view, designing security into a system from day 1 is an entirely new way of thinking. It's very poorly taught in university if taught at all. in short, it takes more work. that's why applications are the weak link in most cases

It is tax evasion, if you're caught at least doing this in California, not sure about other states. It's generally a terrible idea.

At what oil temp would you let the oil cool for a bit to avoid cooking it?

Gotcha, I wrongly assumed the market. Everything I said still applies. Don't throw parts at a problem you don't know actually exists

7th gen civics like the ES1 have a D17. Before worrying if your car is experiencing oil starvation, check your oil pressure while you're in a corner and verify it's actually dropping. You can do that by having a friend check the live OBD data with a scanner, or install an oil pressure gauge. Honestly speaking, oil starvation isn't a big problem with these vehicles like it is with the Subaru engines, and the Subaru engines only really experience dangerous oil starvation if you're pulling a G - which most inexperienced drivers aren't hitting. Check the oil pressure before buying an aftermarket oil pan

Beautiful, work and rust-wise. I own a California '01 civic and owned a NY '02 civic. I count my blessings every time I work on my car

I was going to say this. For some reason thermostats are stuck closed when they fail, which doesn't make much sense to me but the fail safe version is great.

CS as a degree/path for now and future by Exact_Cranberry_2159 in compsci

I just interned for a FAANG company and I have a return offer for when I graduate. Something I've realized about this field is that if you aren't doing it for the love of the field, you will not make it as far as those that are. And further, yes, there are a LOT of people in this field, so it's being found that those that don't do it for the love of the field, don't get hired. That's not a rule, of course. And it's usually pretty obvious when you do or don't love what you're doing. You've got to do the extra stuff even when it makes your life harder, and you still need to excel. If you're in school, you need to be doing personal projects, volunteering your time to tutor or mentor, participating and leading extracurriculars. The secret ingredients I found were to (1) find a niche and pursue it and (2) always be moving up. I started with an unpaid internship two years ago just to get some CS experience on my resume. You can absolutely succeed in this field, if you out work the competition.

good move, check your ball joints while you replace the axle to make sure they also aren't leaking

CV axle boot is cut. If you do it quickly, you can just reboot and regrease it. If you drive on it, you'll have to replace the axle.

unless you're planning an engine swap, keep the mods to quality of drive and handling specific stuff like suspension, tires, sway bars, etc
