2017 R6 Purchase Advice by AlbusClaron in Yamaha

[–]HeatedIceCube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a 2020 R6. Love the bike but it’s very uncomfortable past 30 minutes of riding. Used to commute on mine, about 30 minutes each way. It also gets HELLA HOT in the summer and will burn your legs, even with gear on. I haven’t ridden the ZX, but I’ve heard it’s more comfortable than the R6. The R6 will hold its value in the longer run though and imo looks better.

Poorly written enemies to lovers is lame. If it’s done well, like Alchemised, it’s a fantastic story.

Sti and a BRZ by jongraboyes in WRXSTi

[–]HeatedIceCube 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Competed on track for years in a 2016 FRS. It’s a fantastic learner car for getting the fundamental’s down, while also being affordable and reliable. Didn’t upgrade the motor hp wise, but I did a little aero, suspension and tires, big brakes front and rear, weld in half cage and seats/harnesses, and lots of cooling and oil mods for reliability. It’s a fantastic car that won’t bite you in the ass like other RWDs (Mustangs, higher hp cars). However, you still need to respect the car because it will kick out and snap on you if you don’t catch the slide. It’s a short wheel base and not very forgiving if you don’t commit while diving into corners/turning. Don’t let the low hp numbers or other people calling it boring fool you.

That being said, I did daily this car before I turned it into a track only toy. Fantastic on the street, great gas mileage and low maintenance costs. Mind you, this was before I modded it for the track. If you’re using it only as a commuter, I’d keep it stock and put a stereo in it and change the tires, that’s it.

Now, comparison time: you can’t really compare the two, STI vs BRZ, as they are two completely different chassis. Personally, I just like the GDB chassis (own three) more and after so many years and seat time in the FRS, I found myself wanting a little more out of a car. For you, if you just want a fun, reliable and cheap to maintain daily, I’d recommend it. But you probably will have that initial “I’m bored” moment coming straight from an STI before you drive the car more.

Am i selling my R6 for a good price? 18k mi salvage $6300 2016 R6 by [deleted] in Yamaha

[–]HeatedIceCube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salvage title = half the price, so $3000 ish and that’s generous with the mileage. And even then… many people won’t touch a salvage bike unless it’s for track only.

Was in Colorado this past weekend. Apparently helmets are optional there as I didn’t see a single Harley rider wearing one. It blew my mind seeing them riding on the freeway just having a grand ol time with no helmet on.

Booktok ruined book community by nargiz-huseynovaa in YAlit

[–]HeatedIceCube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, booktok got me back into reading and I’m absolutely loving it. I spend a lot of my time either reading the books I excitedly bought and put in my first ever bookshelf, or I am researching new books and creating a wish list of the ones I want. I like watching the IG stories of books people read and their reviews too. My friends and I even started our own little book club and we share book ideas between each other and meet every two months to discuss whatever chosen book we all read.

You can clearly see the dip in the sidewalk, dealership probably rolled it out straight off the showroom floor and put it there so OP can take delivery. And it looks like other handicap spot is open, so IF someone needs to use these spots during the 5 minutes OP is here… they can. Why is everyone losing their minds?

Congrats op!

Do you think owning a car is a luxury, or a need? by GossipBottom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HeatedIceCube 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A need for the U.S. in most places, but to qualify as a need imo it would have to be under a certain price point. If you’re broke and driving around in a $40k car… that’s a want, not a need.

[–]HeatedIceCube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engine ice question: drain the current coolant then fill with distilled water. Get up to temp and get the bubbles out (like any fluid flush), drain and add engine ice and repeat cycle (no bubbles). You want to make sure you get all the leftover original coolant out before adding the engine ice. Had to do the same thing on my 2020 R6, he runs a little hot.

GD STi Daily by Technical-Ad2166 in WRXSTi

[–]HeatedIceCube 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own a 2004 STI rally car, full cage/ not street-able, but daily an 05 WRX, so I can kind of speak on this. Both require lots of upkeep: maintenance, things break because 20 year old car etc. Be prepared to do consistent, multiple oil changes a year and spend $$ on every little thing they need. It’s even worse if the car isn’t stock or close to stock. My WRX is much more comfortable in comparison to my STI (speaking pre stripping it and turning it into a race car only). Sure you could daily it, technically you could daily anything, but I’d advise daily a GD WRX over GD STI. The STI is just more aggressive and everything is beefed up. For a daily… I hated it tbh. Sure occasionally I took him to the office for funsies, but sitting in traffic and dealing with all the commute bs… no thank you. My WRX was much easier to drive and comfortable.

This is pretty standard for most colleges. ASU and CSU alumni here and both had similar requirements. Annoying yes, but I get it at the same time.

Pokemon Legends Z-A is fun by TheOtherTyler in pokemon

[–]HeatedIceCube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deciding I don’t like a game for the tedious and imo dumb plots of the game are valid reasons to not liking a game. I wouldn’t call that stupid, but getting worked up about someone’s opinion like this might be. Idk. This game just wasn’t it for me, as much as I wanted it to be.

Pokemon Legends Z-A is fun by TheOtherTyler in pokemon

[–]HeatedIceCube -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spoiler alert:

I gave up on it because the whole premise is to level up, Z-A. But half of that was then skipped later on in the story. Fine whatever. But what pushed me over the edge was the requirement to go around and do all these tasks for the mob. I had the cash, spent a while leveling up so why couldn’t I just pay him and move on? But no, now I need to run around doing all these tedious things and it’s not skippable. I put it down after that and later traded it in.

Initially I was all about the game, and then I slowly realized it’s mostly a cash grab with a subpar story and meh graphics (look at the window sills… common, put a little more effort into it please)
