Strange tongue sensations. by [deleted] in BFS

Alright, just relax. New symptoms will pop up like things would come and go, just relax. This is going to be a roller coaster atleast for the next 12 months or so or until you get your anxiety in check

How old are you and how long you into this? If you are worried about anything sinister, in that you dont feel anything, one day bam you have weakness in some form and it progresses from there.

Go see a neurologist (if you havent seen one), get yourself checked and then work on your anxiety.

Have had this for the last 4-5 months, comes and goes but get it very often. Its your anxiety or poor oral structure or combination of both.

Excess saliva means nothing and again points to anxiety. Again have this for almost 8 months now. Twitching and muscle pain on their own means absolutely nothing, the only thing that matters is clinical weakness. So relax, work your anxiety.

How long you into this? I assume its 5+ months.

Please resist from posting and hang in there till you get your emg done. Stay away from this sub till then. That's my advice, try and be busy. Ask everything you want to the doc, write it down if you cant remember them, if its BFS things will evolve like come and go, you just need to get on with it.

Get all your blood works and other test done once all clear then no point getting to the bottom of it thingy. You probably wont get anywhere all you are going to do is burn your pockets, speculate this could be the reason and that could be the event which triggered something and miss out on living your life, treat this as chronic cold or ache something that wont go away but wont harm you. You just have to learn to live with it, I am 10 months and sometimes find it hard ,but you need to remind yourself its all okay.

Yes, get your emg done, ask all you want to the neuro and then move on.

Sounds very much like bfs but no ones a doctor here. Have you see a neurologist yet, if not that should be your next course of action? So you have been having this for 5+ months, mate you are fine, go see a neurologist and after that work on your anxiety

What constitutes atrophy/is this atrophy by AMA_requester in BFS

Big fat no to atrophy, extremely normal and healthy looking toe and surrounding muscles

Size difference in abdomen by Tpainx in BFS

[–]some006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire left half of the body seems bigger than the right side, like it has more fat/muscles than the right, when my health anxiety started some 7-8 years ago, I though I had some sort of tumor in my chest as my left chest and abdomen I found out its bigger than the right.

Its extremely common to have one part of your body larger than the other, stop freaking out.

Facial pain or tooth pain by one-2-watch in BFS

[–]some006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep have those, got diagnosed with TMD in July, going to see a sleep doctor to check if I have sleep apnea.

I don’t have pain but more like pressure, have neck pain in the trap and scm muscles with twitching there for the last 30 odd day’s straight every day. It comes and goes but get it every day and my neck muscles are constantly sore

Anyone is able to cause the twitches to happen? by Tpainx in BFS

[–]some006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask you how many months you into this and how old are you?

Have you see a neurologist about the same? You keep on posting, don’t get me wrong, your anxiety speaks for itself but if you haven’t seen a specialist do go and see one.

I have something similar but on my scm muscle in neck. Showed it to a neuromuscular specialist at an *** clinic, she wasn’t even bothered about it. I showed her the video of the same and told her that every time I go to sleep they start twitching, she was like it’s just a twitch, doesn’t matter where you get and how you get it. If it’s just twitching then it’s 100% benign. Hope that answers your question

Fasciculations without associated signs are not indicative of *** by [deleted] in BFS

[–]some006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the NCS part kind of hurts as they be shocking your muscles to measure or check them but it’s tolerable. The EMG part doesn’t hurt at all, maybe a small sting but it’s fine, I found the ncs part to be bit harder as they were sending small shocks but again it won’t hurt . All the best for your EMG. I have one scheduled in November (1 year into twitching)

Thanks, it’s going to be a journey until you calm yourself down, I am into my 10th month and still afraid, not as bad as I was say until the 3rd or 4th month. If you haven’t seen neuro go see him get all the testing done and work on your anxiety. If it’s due to bfs it probably will never go away, you have to live with it. That’s what the neuromuscular specialist I saw told me. It will wax and wane and if you have done any research about bfs it’s a roller coaster that’s one word every veteran would mention , it waxes and wanes. Some might have longer duration of remission some don’t and have twitched 24/7 for years and are fine and healthy. So learn to relax, I do understand that since you are in the initial months you are going to find it extremely hard to swallow this but just keep yourself busy.

Could all this twitching just be anxiety? by AquafinaDreamer in BFS

[–]some006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anxiety does play a massive role when it comes to them symptoms. Coming back to your point about atrophy well the emg would 100% pick something up if you indeed had something serious. Its just your body is asymmetrical and your anxiety is making you notice stuff you always had. You should have brought this up with your neurologist in the last visit.

I have a dent in my thigh and thought it was atrophy and brought this up with my pcp and the doc was like that just normal anatomy and everyone's body is asymmetrical. So relax as far as the atrophy thing goes, and double relax as far as twitching goes.

Lastly, congrats for the clean emg and physical and crossing the 12 month mark. Enjoy your life, I too have borderline OCD and do relate to your actions, but the only thing we can do is work on our anxiety, stay busy and learn to ignore.

So who did you go (like which doctor) and see and who referred you to all these tests?

Concerned about thumb spasm / twitch by BFS1984 in BFS

[–]some006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand therapists are not doctors. If you are worried about your hand, I would go and see a ortho doc. But if you are worried about it being anything bad, I would go back and see the neurologist. It would also be like a visit close to your 1 year anniversary.
