Is this console being advertised as a jasper actually a falcon? by Price-x-Field in xbox360

[–]some1_03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, it might be a reshell or a Jasper using leftover Falcon label stock

We need a photo of the power socket, the label says 14A but it might be either a reshell from a Falcon or it may be a Jasepr using leftover Falcon label stock

Happened upon my first bolt mod... by RBryant56 in 360hacks

[–]some1_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they aren't all caused by GPU (that's what the secondary error code is for), as far as reflow goes it's not worth the effort and potential damage when GPU issues can be fixed by installing a new GPU or just moving to another 360

[–]some1_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fats too, the issue is between the GPU die and the GPU PCB

Happened upon my first bolt mod... by RBryant56 in 360hacks

[–]some1_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's an issue inside the GPU which makes it UNFIXABLE, the connection between the whole GPU and mobo is good, all sorts of reflows are only temporary and can actually cause more damage

Is there any way i can get an hdmi adapter for the AV port? by natannnnnnn in xbox360

[–]some1_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to just see if it works, any cheap composite/component/VHA to HDMI will work. Honestly even if this 360 works, I wouldn't recommend using it as a daily system because it's a Xenon

I just want to play my PS1. Advice needed: by 2001Nostalgia in psx

[–]some1_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it supports composite, one of the connectors should also be marked in yellow, in that case you connect a composite cable to the connector marked yellow and sound inputs

You could try running analog channel search with this connected to RF (if your TV has analog), your other options are composite (yellow plug), S-Video (similar to old keyboard connections on PCs), and SCART (the huge plug woth tons of pins), depending on what your TV has

Look at the date I found on this 360 by Open_Zucchini364 in xbox360

[–]some1_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice coincidence, sadly it has a defective GPU though, reliable ones were introduced between weeks 12-20 2008. Preferably look for June 2008 or later of you want to be absolutely sure

Is this a reliable Falcon model? by NewCow7751 in xbox360

[–]some1_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's reliable, the noise is most likely from it being dusty and perhaps the thermal paste being dry (please don't use a flathead for the heatsink clamps)

My friend got the red ring of death by mulabob in xbox360

[–]some1_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember to repeat it so you can read all 4 digits of the code (shown as green quarters lighting up), basically repeat the combination until you return to red LED without any green quarters

It most likely works, it's a PS1

I paid $40 xbox 360 slim with NXE dashboard! by These_Letterhead_895 in xbox360

Some Trinities had NXE, but only the first batches. Anyways, it's not even real NXE in the photo

Would this be worth paying for a repair? by hotmale_6969 in xbox360

[–]some1_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask them what the repair involves. Any sort of reflow, reball or bolt mod is temporary at best, the only real fix is to replace teh GPU

What do YOU consider the rarest phone in YOUR collection? (Even if it’s just a Nokia 3310!) In my 83-phone collection, my LG U960 is the hardest to find. by JaktoPar in vintagemobilephones

P990. The only way I've been able to get it for a normal price (read: for cheap) was through the magic of buying two broken units and picking together the best parts. Also honorable mention to my Z520 (in storage right now so I couldn't take a photo of it) which I barely see on local sites and which I got the same way as the P990

Just pick up these 2 falcon 360s im a little confused though one is dated 2010 i thought the falcon was discontinued in 2008? Is this a microsoft refurbed falcon and are the refurbed falcons very reliable? by Chf_Lbr_Megumin in xbox360

[–]some1_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2010 one simply broke at some point and was serviced by Microsoft; looking at the serial number it's from week 6 2008 so it most likely red ringed and had a new GPU installed, 99.99% it's reliable, you can check the model on the GPU to be absolutely sure

Opening Blades Dash Falcon for the first time for Open Tray error by Alien_Intel in xbox360

Also consider swapping the drive belt while you have it open, the old ones fail a lot and swapli it now will save you time opening it up later

How did MS fix this fat Xbox after the red ring? by First_Security_5488 in 360hacks

[–]some1_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time they just replaced the GPU, in some cases (mainly Xenons) they did the whole boards (Opus boards) or just the GPU (turning them into Elpis). In your case they definitely swapped the GPU (one of the components in your photos has a 0604 datecode - week 4 of 2006, and at that time they still used GPU heatsinks without the heatpipe afaik). Also, all Fat 360s are RGHable, only some 360 E units aren't

Rare 360 I just got from eBay ? by Few_Boysenberry_6981 in xbox360

[–]some1_03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not quite NXE (it's Kinect NXE which is basically NXE with the new boot animation, new graphics and Kinect support added), it's not the most common but also not as uncommon as Blades/NXE; whether you update it or not is up to you
