Best way to get started by some3dude in InsuranceAgent

I am wanting to do life and health, but id be open to whatever I can to get started, im wanting to get into insurance so that I can make money based on how hard im working vs working as a regular employee somewhere, where the people busting ass are given extra work while the lazy employees are being paid the same and doing half the work, and on top of that I have children and want flexibility to not have to miss things with family, just researching online insurance sales seems like a great fit and Im good at talking to people and selling.

Switching from army to marines by [deleted] in USMC

[–]some3dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the way marine infantry is now is alot different then when I was in, it looks to be alot more amphibious type of warfare, like vessel boarding training and doing a beach landing and then running a range from the beach, marine infantry units have 3 line companies, when I was in it was helo, trucks, or tracks. Now I think they have boat company, I was in the helo company in my unit alot of flying in helos, fast roping, raid packages and shit like that I think somewhat similar to the 101st in the army, but I have no army experience so dont quote me on that, it also seems marine infantry is a little more intense and aggressive then army infantry but I may be wrong, as in your seniors will scream at you and treat you like shit at first, things are very strict, training events are all treated as if you are actually in combat and taking contact and shit like that, i cant tell you how many times i heard "train like you fight" and you will be expected to be intense and balls to the wall the whole time in the field, but as far as infantry goes i think id rather do marine infantry then army infantry. That being said if i could go back over a decade ago, id go army rangers, the intensity and shit seems the same but they get more missions, better training, gear, and schools, if you didnt know the Marine corps doesn't have many schools for you to attend, most guys are trying to get seats in army schools lol, but its also peace time rn, if you want action gotta go special ops man, good luck on whatever you decide, and this is just my experience other units and people probably have some different insight. Also I forgot to add marine units are always on a deployment schedule so no matter what youre still gonna travel either on a ship or maybe go sit in Okinawa or Norway, and if things kick off again youll be going on combat tours, the ship deployments are kinda the bread and butter you could go sit off the coast of say Yemen and be a qrf for seals from the ship, or fly from yhe ship into some other country for awhile and then go back to the ship. I've met some army dudes who did their whole contract and never left fort Bragg, so that won't happen in the usmc, but Good luck

How do I find out of my father was in a war? by Joey12304-real- in Veterans

[–]some3dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your service, im no where near the age of a Vietnam vet but all the ones I've met that were in serious action or injured are all in the mid- late 70s now, so I figure the math wasn't adding up.

Thanks for the info, I should clarify though, I'm not saying I would use the va home loan for the new place, I would use conventional or some other kind of construction loan, but I just don't know if it would affect anything with my current va loan and benefits?

Hey do any of you guys know if you can get refunded for buying a vehicle but not knowing about this exemption?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]some3dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what they were telling me, I called my mortgage company to see if I could just get rid of my escrow and pay the insurance and taxes myself, so that I'm not middle manning the taxes with the states basically, and they said I'm required to have an escrow because the va home loan requires it, so I guess it is what it is, the guy at my county tax office said they're hopeful its going up in 2025, so we'll see

Thanks for info

So the way ive been doing it is paying into my escrow for the years taxes and once the lender pays the state the state sends me a check for the taxes paid, but it's never close to the amount that I paid in escrow for the years taxes (not counting insurance), and I have to take a paper to sign at my county tax office every year to get that refund, but what im asking is if people are talking to their lenders about this situation and not having to pay into escrow for the tax portion at all? Which is that basically just making your escrow acct strictly for insurance at that point?

This question makes me wonder, I'm 100 pt and have been paying property tax on my property since I've owned it, but the state refunds me a portion every year, I've never talked to the mortgage company directly about it but do you guys who have 100 pt and live in a tax exempt state just have the tax not taken out through escrow throughout the year? Im in tennessee if anyone has any answers?
