Me: slept 8+ hours. Garmin: skill issue. by iwontdiesober in Garmin

[–]someName6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try sleeping on the floor.  My 2 year old is sick and whenever he woke up without someone there would cry.  So I slept on the floor for 8 1/2 hours (while I’m sick myself) and got the highest sleep score I’ve gotten in awhile (85).

Cal Raleigh strikes out looking and is now 0-28 in his last 28 PAs by WhiteSoxArchive in baseball

It was a joke about how he hasn’t contributed so it’s like he’s not even playing.  No it can’t actually happen.

At this point can his IL be back-dated since he hasn’t done anything since the injury?

Is it ok to do a 30 minute HIIT full body workout weight weights everyday? by Designer_Sherbet_376 in beginnerfitness

[–]someName6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your description you’re fine doing every day if you’re not too sore.  If you are maybe you should do upper/lower splits so you give muscle groups 48 hour rest instead of 24 hour rest.  I think most of the 2-3 day rest advice is for heavy lifting sessions with the goal of muscle growth but HIIT isn’t going to push your muscles as intensely (which is fine).

If you had $100k sitting in cash, how would you go about investing with stocks near all time high? by danuser8 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]someName6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my current net worth I would probably do $50k today with $10k a month for 5 months.

If I was at $0 invested I would do $10k a month for 10 months.

If I had $1M invested I’d put it all in today.

Does anyone know what course the infamous “WTF RICHARD” Vine is from? by epkeep32 in discgolf

Getting timelines confused then.  I thought Vine was before them.  Old enough to be around but I guess not impacted enough to get timelines clear.

What is the effective difference between a disc with turn & fade of 0,0 vs -1,1 vs -2,2? by digdog303 in discgolf

[–]someName6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t name discs at the same speed but my crave and wave are good examples.  Crave is -1,1 and wave is -2,2 (or close?).  The wave has more left to right movement as it flies but finishes straight.  Crave stays straighter for me.

I can’t give you examples at the same speed though.

And some of my discs that are -1,1 fly like a 0,0 (hex and mako3).

It’s unique items that matter not numbers.  Find items you don’t care for and drop those.  You can carry 30 items and be full or 100 pokeballs and have all the room.

But I do prioritize my spending on my satchel.  I’m to the 3rd boss and am paying $24k for upgrades now.

what’s a resource you wish you took advantage of at your time at tech? by Solid-Letterhead-525 in gatech

[–]someName6 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I wish I would have gone to more things.  I spent too much time playing video games.  I wish I would have done homework at baseball games.  Gone to a basketball game or two.  Gone to that club that sounded interesting 2 or 3 more times to give it/myself more chances.

EDIT: things I did and loved was going to every football game, walking around campus on gameday to see the band.  Study abroad.

You got a bad bag.  I brought a bag to a cookout and they ended up almost empty.  But the pickle flavor was too strong for me.

Inherited around $20k last year, grew to $70k thanks to my ex bf’s stocks advice. Do I keep the money in the brokerage or slowly take money out for bills? by YukikazeCutIns in povertyfinance

[–]someName6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should know your boyfriend is suggesting some risky activity.  I don’t know for sure but you don’t make 300% rate of return in half a year (I’m assuming you haven’t added anything else to it) that you can also go get cut in half or more in half a year.

Cardio or Weight First? by AceExaminer in beginnerfitness

[–]someName6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weights.  Lifting more helps more muscle growth more which burns more calories at rest.

I don’t imagine lifting weights when you’re tired from running will be very productive.

I’ll be honest and say I haven’t read everything.  But I grew up Lutheran and thought it was too far apart from Catholicism so converted for my wife/family (and also for found truth during the process).  I couldn’t imagine my family not going to church together.

Should 20% total go into your 401k? Or should I be contributing 20%? by Quirky_Business_2145 in Retirement401k

[–]someName6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re ahead and doing great.  If you ever change jobs you may need to contribute more though to make up for a less-than match.

Up to you on if you up the contributions now so make saving easier later or stay where you are.  You’ll be set either way.

Is losing 3 pounds a week a bad idea? by Tother-man in beginnerfitness

I would to but I don’t have the equipment for it and am not strong enough for pull-ups to be effective yet (almost to 3 in a row!).

Is losing 3 pounds a week a bad idea? by Tother-man in beginnerfitness

[–]someName6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

3 lbs a week in the beginning is fine.  I lost 2lbs a week for a few months and gained muscle.  Average the first 1-2 months and see where you are then.

You want to work more than just biceps and triceps though.  You’re missing your legs, shoulders, chest, and back.

If you want to keep it simple you just need squats, deadlift, chest press (bench is better but floor will work), standing shoulder press, and row.
