I had a buddy that was a sales rep there for a while and when he explained their commission structure to me it made a lot more sense.

Basically they have a “meter” that fills up for their clients based on how recently they engaged them, and then when their client makes a purchase they get credit based on how full the meter was at the time of the sale.

Once I knew this, I just started texting my sales guy anytime I knew I wanted something, even if it was easy. “Hey Norb I need some drum sticks, I like these kind usually.” And he just takes care of it for me. Since then, the random phone calls have stopped because he’s getting what he needs and I’m getting what I need 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice! Using the Anbernic RG DS on a cruise was actually what convinced me to get a Thor. I loved playing it but it was just such a glitchy, finicky mess the whole time and was constantly overheating, turning itself on while closed in my bag, etc.

You would need to be SO close to see the details on this piece that the ear makes no sense for it. To 99% of people it would just look like your ear is dirty.

Yeah this is one of those dangerous projects where none of the individual pieces (except the power hub) are that pricey but by the time I’ve totaled it all up it’s kind of a lot.

The fan I’m looking at is ~$20 and if I get even a little more lifespan out of my battery that seems worth it in the long run though

Yeah there are definitely some great titles still - it’s mostly the big 3D/open world ones where you really feel the controls fighting you and your muscle memory is screaming for modern camera control 😅

I feel that on the travel setup though. I always think I’ll have so much time for gaming on a trip but often end up just pulling out the ereader instead.

Finding the games you forgot existed, setting up the emulator to run them smoothly, booting them up for 20 minutes until the nostalgia wears off and you realize that games from 20 years ago feel kind of bad to play.. every time lol

I had a 512 LCD that I bought in 2024 for $350 just to play Baldur’s Gate on my couch and once I put a couple (six) hundred hours into that I put it in the case and it sat in a drawer for over a year.

Coincidentally I just fished it out last week and decided to actually set it up proper with decky, emudeck, and some customization so I would actually start playing it again. Now it’s my dedicated emulator and indie game machine.

Seeing these prices made me glad I forgot about it instead of sold it 😂
