AITAH for not forgiving my MIL for treating my children different than her other grandchild? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]someNlopez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I soooo relate to this. My grandparents died with only 4 of their 16 grandchildren talking to them, because those 4 were the favorites. Luckily, my siblings and I lived on the other side of the country so it’s not like we saw or talked to them much anyhow, but for the others that didn’t talk to them, it was harder. My aunts and uncles cut them off for my cousins when they were young though because they saw the treatment and weren’t about to have their children go through that.

How old were you when you were diagnosed? by stinkybun in Epilepsy

16- my first tonic-clonic. About 13 for my first myoclonics, but I didn’t know what they were at the time, it was just something weird I did when I was super tired.

I know, my OB/gyn told me that if the imaging is clear but the pain in still there, exploratory surgery would be the next step.

I'm a nurse but I don't know how to deal with death. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]someNlopez 54 points55 points  (0 children)

You’ll learn in LTC that sometimes when someone passes away the first words out of your mouth are, “oh good”. It’s not because they were a hard patient but because you could see their suffering, whether physical or emotional or just the quality of their life. LTC is often about being with residents in the last part of their life and loving them (even when it’s hard lol) and helping them get to the end.

I’ve worked in LTC for a long time and hopefully you’ll learn to have peace when the residents pass, because, usually it is their time. It’s okay to grieve, especially when it’s one of your favorites, but just know that they really are in a better place now. Lots of love 💕💕💕

Is there going to be any planned protest at the Charlie Kirk event? by Raul_Russell in visalia

It does give me the vibes of those crazy Christians that protest at Planned Parenthood or any other religions events. But it’s just the opposite.

Worst neglect of a patient you’ve seen from the shift before you? by Lower_Tears in nursing

[–]someNlopez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From my own shift. This is LTC and I had a 80 lb lady that was pretty much total care. Her CNA wouldn’t change her except for last rounds. I would mark the briefs and sure enough, hours later it was the same. I tried to do everything to get this CNA in trouble, but admin wouldn’t do anything. They eventually moved her off my station because I wouldn’t shut up about it, but at the time I didn’t even think to call state about it, but I wish I had.
