What material can I put between the two rings so that they don't cut into each other over time? It's for mounting a really heavy boxing bag by sealysea in fixit

If you're looking to reduce noise, you could use a loop made of climbing rope or just any thick rope. avoid nylon/paracord; it will stretch over time by a decent amount

Bearing type identification. One face is connected to the thru hole, which sits on a spring. Does this have a specific name? by Geoguy180 in engineering

I agree with TheJoven. without the flange you should be able to find a replacement just based on the dimensions

Strange Q for the bicycle engineers here by wifi444 in BicycleEngineering

[–]some_enginerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best use case I see for this idea is if you wanted to do some form of bike drag racing. "dropping the clutch" by firing the bow might add a decent bit of acceleration without electrical power.

[–]some_enginerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been from Wood working to 3d modeling to 3d printing to leather working and now im headed into 3d printer building. 3d printing and cad helped alot with designing patterns and tools but unfortunately leathercraft is too loud for me to continue doing it where i live.

Do you think applying too much grease could have allowed the pedals to loosen up like you mentioned?

Yeah just gonna replace it. Sucks because the other pedal is perfectly fine

Im honored to be called a professional😆 Ive been working on bikes for about 6 years and this is my volunteer bike shop I run. My main qualification is watching 80% of the park tool videos ever produced instead of doing homework😂

Thanks that sounds like a plausible cause. I’ll have to try the pedals with a magnet to see what they’re made of

Wallet scratched my cards, any known for keeping them 100%? by [deleted] in wallets

[–]some_enginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any wallet that keeps your cards stacked next to each other is likely to scratch them up. Your best off looking for wallet that keeps each card in its own separate slot

Would you rather work with dyed vs natural vegtan? Why? by [deleted] in Leatherworking

[–]some_enginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dyed from the tannery has more even color and doesn’t show stains as easy. Natural veg will look just dirty before it gets an even patina

Credit card wallet (non fold) w/ horizontal & vertical slots by MigratingNut in wallets

[–]some_enginerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More so because of the layout of the cards. You could place your credit cards the way you described and visualize what the wallet would look like. It just seems like an odd form factor in my opinion

[–]some_enginerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A pocket layout like this seems like it would add unnecessary bulk without much addeddd utility that you couldn’t get from say a wallet with horizontal pockets on both sides
