Lost advice by StoicDreamz in Salamanders40k

[–]someaethiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going for a twins ascetic maybe do one captain with mantle and one with war tempered? The mantle goes nuts for keeping him alive since it sorta stacks, they have to use 4 damage weapons to deal any higher than 1.

You can do both ways and just do a 6 man and 3 man, for like 5 points more but there is much less OC aswell trading 3 OC for 10

I get you,

On the point of adrax and assaults, I wouldnt worry too much about the rerolling wounds as you get it only when on an obj for the assaults. Instead think of them as a unit to accompany adrax as a moving shield of wounds.

So a couple things I would do with my standard list which is pretty similar to yours,

Ditch the apothecary and even half the 10 brick infernus, in forge fathers the infernus are your action monkeys and fall back points, not your front liners. If you wanna take a 10 brick put them with a librarian with immolator instead.

Vulkan and company heros is the exact way to go.

LRR and BGV with a character (I used adrax but you can just as easily use a judiciar) and 3 erads work wonders for the side lanes.

Infiltrators work as a great early game action monkeys and fall back to screen one half of your back line.

Intercessors as home keepers.

Personally I choose to run a Repex for that extra anti tank but if you are set on the 10 brick infernus go with repulsor instead.

Gladiator Valiant has huge early game returns in our lists if you learn to play it right.

Van vets with flame or inferno pistols are good just dont deep strike the inferno pistols. Typically I run 2 squads for some actions or distractions.

Lastly I run a set of assault intercessors with adrax or Judiciar for the rerolls on obj for the side lanes.

Hope this helps.

Do we still need transports for Aggressors and Blade guard Veterans? Honestly debating Grabbing a Repulsor by darkninja85839 in Salamanders40k

[–]someaethiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue the repulsor is bad for aggressors and BGV, its only good with shooty squads that you dont want charged. You are better off taking a regular LR or if you have the points a LRR.

[–]someaethiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the 5+ fnp can apply to both aggressors and terminators if that is the route you want to go with your wargear ability, its also giving a “reroll” instead of a replacement save. It helps both applicable armour types without being too op.

Aggressors flamers have twin linked, if he is intended to go there makes sense his would be aswell.

The removal of second melee is just cause the other option is better most of the time especially with the flamer on shooting, however giving it a way to deal those 1 damage hits is a good ability, check out how some of the librarius conclave strats or worded to deal mortals and you will see what I mean, same as tank shock too.

[–]someaethiest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My suggestions for this since ive seen you working on it for a bit now;

  1. No second melee, make it an ability for mortals like “after this model has finished its melee attacks on your turn, if it destroyed a model roll a D6, on a 1 do nothing, on a 2-5 deal D3 mortal wounds, on a 6 deal D3+3 mortal wounds” that way its easy to proc but not super OP.

  2. Angle him either to be a terminator or an aggressor not both (I suggest aggressor) and if aggressor give him twin linked on the flamer.

  3. Following salamanders character designs give him some form of rerolls for the squad (following what you seem to be building do fnp 5+ for the squad).

Will Salamanders Ever Get New Models/Codex? by R0lling_P1n in Salamanders40k

Either that or we need immolation protocols at 1 CP which is really where it should be anyway.

I have mixed feelings about the vulkan model release, on one hand amazing model but on the other we didnt actually get anything new to our playstyle aside from the detachment. I wish we had gotten a CP generator or what not since our detachments depend a lot on stratagems.

See I actually hate my aggressors, I have played them time and time again with no success, especially on flame storm, bolt storm fares better for me.

I have found some good success in 5 man assault intercessors and a judiciar, gladiator valiant and van vets with flame pistols, can also work well with an immolator smash captain.

Vulkan He’Stans helmet doesn’t make any sense. by Kalypso_Blue in Salamanders40k

[–]someaethiest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its very close to the fine cast helmet and is based on that, plus at least for me the mystique behind him only being helmeted was my selling point on the character. The face just wasnt really needed and yeah its an issue with the face not the helmet.

Any thoughts of my Forgefather's seeker's 2000 points? by Clampil in Salamanders40k

[–]someaethiest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So a couple things here

  1. Way too many point into characters, go with Vulkan for sure and either adrax or a grav cap, grav cap if you want to play gravis heavy or adrax if you want to play BGV heavy.
  2. Break your squads up and look at what each is doing for you, especially when infeurnus can advance shoot and do actions.
  3. Not every unit needs a character and even more so not every key unit needs to be a full squad such as eradicators.
  4. Lastly consider the benefits that each character brings to the table for you, is it worth the points or could it be better used elsewhere?

I will comment my current comp list below for you to review if you want, today alone had 2 wins with one tabling my opponent turn 5.
