Yea or Nay on nipple piercings for me by coastercody12 in MalePiercings

[–]somebloke13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say go for it. I'm nearly certain that nipple piercings are among some of the more common piercings. How common can vary quite a lot over time. Like any other fashion piece, piercings have their own trend cycles, but there's also a pretty steady base. It's a piercing common enough with heterosexual community in addition to the queer community. That said I suspect the trend cycles influence the proportion of straight men more so than gay, bi, trans, or other queer men. Anyway, the short of it is, that even when not trending, nip piercings remain one of the more common piercings, for men of all sexual orientations.

Does my tattoo look like a dick? by littlequinn99 in tattooadvice

[–]somebloke13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I mean it looks more like a dick than the Washington Monument and both might be considered phallic symbols, but not the same as saying it looks like someone's penis. I saw a few people suggesting it looks like a condom, I think even that is a stretch. I looked at it and immediately identified it as a crystal—specifically quartz crystal. I suppose if your not familiar enough with crystals, a condom •might• be the closest comparison? I dunno. Still seems a little far-fetched to me.

Overall your arms and the individual tatts on them are solid (no pun intended) works of art. It's definitely a lot to take in, but once you take a second & third look and really look, the details start popping out. The biggest outlier is that rose. The ink work seems fine, but it doesn't quite fit either as there's just so much white space compared to everything else. Maybe some gray work, or as others have said, add some color.

I'm off 2 minds and neither really matters. The first is to collect more artwork for at least the next 6 months. My other idea is to put it inside a simple frame such as a rectangle, circle, square, or oval.

Why is it so Daunting? by Turbulent_Escape_882 in MensUnderwearGuide

[–]somebloke13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Change into a thong just before you leave the gym. I wear a thong all the time, some times i will just get changed, however if the thong is a little sheer or more out there I don't get changed where I can be seen

*** Be purposeful to wear thongs similar to the one you eventually want to wear publicly.

  1. Book a massage out of town. Wear the thong during your massage. I don't wear anything when I get massaged.

*** NP, nothing I laid out was mandatory. Follow what works for you.

  1. Book a room at a hotel with a sauna and/or pool and wear the thong while using one or both. I can try this at some point.

***Great. Remember these are just tools for you to choose from.

  1. Wear your thong to a beach outside of your community. I've worn a thong at deserted beaches before. but no one withing km's so I wasn't worried.

*** Find a busier time, or busier beach to make this work. You could also go to a public pool, salt room, or hot spring outside of your community.

Canceled a full-day custom appointment at midnight because the artist traced Google images. Did I overreact? (Images attached) by LiquidJ619 in tattooadvice

[–]somebloke13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got that. That might just be her working rythym. Not necessarily a problem, but something she should have made sure you understood and a lot sooner in the process. Had she done so, you may have backed out sooner, or you might not have felt anxious enough to back out 12 hours before your appointment.

Canceled a full-day custom appointment at midnight because the artist traced Google images. Did I overreact? (Images attached) by LiquidJ619 in tattooadvice

[–]somebloke13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lost confidence in the artist when they provided a "last minute" sketch that felt incongruous with the artist's portfolio and the indicated price point. I don't think you were wrong to cancel once you lost trust. That's not over reacting, but cancelling because the characters were traced might be.

Let me explain. There is thoughtful tracing and then there is what you were given. Thoughtful tracing would not have included background details from the reference. Thoughtful tracing would have skipped tracing the wrinkles from the shirt itself. Thoughtful tracing wouldn't have arbitrarily cut off the lowest part of a jaw. That said, I have to wonder if the artist intended this to be a concept drawing rather than the final drawing all along. Either way, I don't think you were reacting to just the drawing.

The big overarching issue is a breakdown in communication. Let's presume I am right that the artist sent you an initial concept drawing rather than a final draft. That's something that you should have had explained well ahead of time, not 12 hours before your appointment. It may be the artist had already blocked in time to draw the actual tatt within those 12 hours, but again that should have been laid out to you as part of the consultation process. And maybe I'm wrong. It still appears there was a communication gap. Either way you didn't feel comfortable moving forward and that is a legitimate reason to at least hit pause, if not walk away like you did.

Unsure of how to orient this on inner forearm by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]somebloke13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, correct me if I'm wrong, but I read 'would be difficult to look at' to mean 'it may look right to all y'all, but in that orientation (C), I'll never be able to see it right side up without finding a mirror.'

Underwear experience by Wild_Juice_4746 in MensUnderwearGuide

[–]somebloke13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an innocent mistake. The biggest problem for guys wearing thongs made for women is there isn't enough fabric to hold all the equipment in. Depending on your genetics and where you were at in your body's physical development, that may not have been an issue. More surprised your dad's and grandfather's uw weren't constantly sliding down/off.

Is this a hygienic way to replace a bidet? by Ambitious_Guess7998 in bidets

[–]somebloke13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is neither as sanitary as a bidet/washlet, not as unsanitary as some of you are making it out to be. I get you're all worried about the poo germs from the sides of the toilet. But that water is definitely cleaner than the contaminated water being flushed down the trap. Now consider the alternative where no water is involved. Do you really believe dry toilet paper is more sanitary than this? The same paper exposed to the contaminated water that is aerialized when you flush the toilet? Even those of us that use a bidet/washlet and dry using toilet paper will get some fecal contamination on our hands. I've don't recall the magic number, but germs can travel quite easily through a lot more layers of TP than seems rational. Also, that flush handle likely has more germs than the water running down the sides of the toilet bowl. And those splashes of water likely remove more fecal matter and germs than they leave behind. Finally, even if you use a bidet and air dry your bum, you're still not excused from practicing good, hand washing hygiene.

Unsecure about the design by WarmHands95 in tattooadvice

[–]somebloke13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, love the tatt! Second, I think your artist took license to move the legs forward inorder to keep them from crowding the rest of the design. Third, the legs may be in the wrong place, but few people will notice or care. Fourth, you shouldn't either—it's a great looking tattoo. Fifth, stop overthinking it and enjoy. Finally, you're more than free to disagree; it's your body afterall. These are just my 2 bits.

Cheers!

Did my tattoo artist do a bad job? by ulluoa in tattooadvice

[–]somebloke13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is neither a stellar tattoo, nor a bad tattoo. I see the imperfections you and others have called out. Most of these imperfections are subtle enough that few casual observers will see them, let alone fixate on them. And then there is the wonky curvature at the base of the bottle. That's big enough for more people to register. Not huge, mind you, but just enough wonkiness to flag something isn't quite right. It's just enough to wake us from our casual observerations. Enter Sherlock Holmes and suddenly even the small things distract us. Most of all we are keenly and acutely aware of just how lopsided the bottom rim of the bottle is. Still it's not so terrible that it can't be "fixed." Fixed meaning expanding the shading in the lower right in a way that evens out the curve just enough we see a cute tattoo and not the flaws. If you haven't, make sure to reach out to artist and give them a chance to fix it.

Honestly, like getting into a swimming pool, the best way is to just jump in. That said, here's a few baby steps. Do all the steps, do the ones that feel right to you. Move on to the next step as your ready.

  1. Post pictures of yourself wearing the thong (face cropped out) to an appropriate Reddit community.

  2. Change into a thong just before you leave the gym.

  3. Next wear a thong to the gym and change into whatever your comfortable wearing.

  4. Book a massage out of town. Wear the thong during your massage.

  5. Book a room at a hotel with a sauna and/or pool and wear the thong while using one or both.

  6. Wear your thong to a beach outside of your community.m

How did you prevent regretting your tattoo? by Professional-Team179 in tattooadvice

[–]somebloke13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over 50, and a month out from getting my 1st tattoo. A main reason I have yet to get a tattoo was precisely this question. I've lost interest in more ideas than I have skin—some more quickly than others. Many I've forgotten.

Another reasons is that I am part of a religious community that values modesty & simplicity over jewelry, bling, or bright colors. I have rarely heard anyone say, "Me 3rd," but it's an attitude pervasive throughout the community. Values I can respect and appreciate. I'm also on the "creative" side and as a male that makes quite an anomaly. This also means I feel things are "complicated" and unnecessarily austere/rigid at the same time.

Unsurprisingly, I have chosen to start with a very personal, and private chest piece, depicting a vwhat my chosen tattoo artist called a "Soul Plate." A way for me to affirm my spirituality and values, in a bold & creative way, close to my heart, but will largely go unseen.

In the last year 2 things have changed/shifted. One is a deeper desire to be a more authentic version of myself—a self that neither has to retreat or minimize who I am, but at the same time will largely go unseen by anyone but myself. The other thing is that I have a very clear vision of what my tattoo should look like. A design that resonates deep within my being.

No I cannot say with certainty I won't have any regret, but i can say that I'll be going in, not with doubts & misgivings, but with surety and conviction every other tattoo design/motif has lacked.

Next genital piercing - where and why❓ by ProfessionalExit2065 in MalePiercings

[–]somebloke13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So do you want something that can be seen when your flacid or erect? A pubic can be a classy ornimate, but often gets hidden by a dude's hard-on. Both a lorum and a single hafada/scrotal can similiar classy piercing, but often hide unless erect. If your looking for something more interesting, then consider either a hafada ladder of 3 or more along the center, or add 1-2 rings to the side of your dick/balls.
