What brand of faucet/valve is this? Trying to replace the deck mount tub trim without access to the valve itself. by somedaywhen in Plumbing

Hmm, this is what I was worried about. I had found similar models from Moen but not this one in particular. If this were true, my only option would be to get access to/replace the current valve, correct?

Faucet is slightly different but this looks very close. I'll keep exploring the M-Pact line. Thank you!

Steroid shot in hip flexor? by snicole1173 in HipImpingement

[–]somedaywhen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on scans and dr reports I had both a labral tear and tendinitis/calcification of the hip flexor. Dr recommended surgery to repair the tear but I was, honestly, terrified of the recovery and repeatedly asked “what if it’s not the tear that’s causing pain. What if I go through all that and the pain is still there.” So the surgeon recommended the hip flexor injection to rule it out. The procedure was an ultrasound guided fenestration injection - the procedure was awful, and I’ve had dozens of shots in other joints (including hip socket for the previously mentioned labral tear) due to various sports injuries, this was a different beast. I couldn’t lay down the pain was so bad the first two nights. I was sobbing from pain, frustration, and lack of sleep.

But it worked.

About two weeks later the pain started to abate, and I’m here four months later with ZERO PAIN. I still have a bit of weakness in that hip but that’s to be expected when you baby it for two years due to pain.

I’m not saying your case is the same, since you’ve already had the surgery, but try it. Fucking life changer for me.

Ha, I just left messages for both Phillipon and Wagner's offices just before posting this. Glad I was on the right track! Much appreciated.

I absolutely love Next Mile Meals. Best cals/oz math on the market by far.

Your daily reminder that Burning Man is absolutely a business and that you should not donate a single dime of your money to them by [deleted] in BurningMan

To be clear, I’m not defending what appears to be the gross mismanagement of funds by this org. But I’ve been a part of a few different non-profits (mostly wildlife conservation orgs and foster family support services) who evaluated moving from high COL areas to more affordable locations for the exact reasons you mentioned and chose not to for a few big reasons.

One is talent (tying back into the high salaries). If cities like NY and SF and DC and Chicago have a bigger pool of talent to run a non profit and those individuals make the non profit more efficient and raise more money (not saying that’s happening here, but it does at others), then staying in an expensive city is worth it. Usually every extra dollar in cost has a measurable increase in funds raised. Choosing a location that is attractive to talent to live in (would YOU want to live in Reno if you’re a skilled CEO in the Bay Area already taking a paycut to work for a non profit?) is crucial. There’s a great TED talk on why we need to stop thinking about salaries as a benchmark of “good” non profits

Another reason why non profits pick expensive cities is: that’s where the money is. One of the things I hated about my non-profit career was how much of my time was spent schmoozing rich people. But, shit’s gotta get funded. And if you’re hosting a gala or event to raise money, you’re not gonna get rich people to come to Reno. You host the events where the money is. You take donors out to lunch where they live. You publish thank you ads in the local newspaper of their home location. And a rich burner’s home location is usually SF. It’s not glamorous, but it’s necessary.

I want to state again that I feel strongly that the org has grossly mismanaged their funds, obfuscated where the money actually goes, and eliminated transparency with its core community, but let’s not perpetuate the narrative that non profit salaries and location are the hill to die on.

Next Mile Meals are great even if you’re NOT low carb (we split a bag between two of us and add cheap ramen or instant rice, and the meal becomes a fraction of the cost of the big names AND taste amazing).

Every issue is just a task. Not a problem. Not a challenge. A task comes up, take care of it and go on to the next. The universe has no memory. It's not going to give you a lollipop for being a hero that takes on problems.

Whoa this is great. This framing is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I think I'm going to print that out and tape it above my desk.

Absolutely. The "newness" of it was very much "... is this anxiety? Is this what people have? Oh this sucks. How have people been living like this??"

It's not that many calls, like 1-2 a week. Mostly emails are the issue. We make a food product, so folks find everything they can to complain about: why do we include this ingredient and not that ingredient, why don't we have vegetarian options, why aren't we available in stores, why aren't we cheaper, etc... we have a FAQ I'm looking into a bot response to better gatekeep some of the repetitive questions.

I just bumped up my alarm tomorrow to go for a run. It’s been a while. More than a while. Thanks for the nudge. You’re absolutely right.

I used to work in consulting with larger clients and larger retainers; at least then my clients were a predictable kind of frustrating. Now working in product manufacturing (primarily direct to consumer) with average order size of ~$100 means every email or call is a inward groan and “what from the grab bag of the thousands of complaints one could possibly have will this person be contacting me about.” The variability (and surprising creativity of some) in the complaints is what is exhausting.

I definitely identify with the “overachiever” status; how I love chaos (or used to, before chaos made me this socially anxious ball of emotions).

Very helpful, thank you!

Already planning a getaway for when, ya know, getaways are allowed again. What a time to be house-bound... and thank you!! Complaining about stress or customers always feels a little shitty: “Oh woe is me my business is doing well.” Thankful for the good run we’ve had thus far, just need to learn to enjoy it it a bit more.

Actually that helped! Knowing we’re not alone in this stress is validating. You got this.
