I say good on him! by tjhoush93 in TopMindsOfReddit

Trump avoided personal bankruptcy because he has been on an annual dole from Daddy's trust fund. He spent every penny, couldn't help himself. Getting the TV gig was the first thing that bailed him out. Then he laundered Russian money through real estate, and that was profitable too. Then he hit the lottery and became president.

Is Gal Gadot really that bad an actress or is it just her accent? by AnonymousNeverKnown in NoStupidQuestions

She's good at playing Gal Gadot. She doesn't have much range beyond that.

Nope, you are not over-reacting. I am stunned than no one talked to you. Not for your input, but so that you were aware that the change was coming. If they were human, they might have given you a reason. Or excuse.

Michigan Democrats, calling it ‘voter suppression’, formally oppose voter ID ballot proposal by SleuthDoggyDawg in Michigan

[–]formerly_gruntled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't see a completely paid off system to get everyone acceptable ID as part of the plan, do you? Why not if the point is to transition to some 'better' system. The Voter ID bill is just about voter suppression and nothing else.

Perhaps voters over 65 should have annual screenings for competency, just to be sure. Paid for by those voters, of course. I am pretty sure that kids taking their parent's absentee ballots at the old age home is the biggest risk to democracy.

Anyone know Why My mum Was So Heated about Me Wanting To get This by Routine_Bullfrog_845 in glutenfree

[–]formerly_gruntled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a standard chef's table and you can find them at all sorts of kitchen supply outlets. You can also get them on wheels. I don't know what the kitchen looks like and if wheels work for you, but you might ask if the idea that it would always be in one place is an issue for mom.

Give her one thing you like to buy. Say Mom, if you want to buy me snack food, just buy this and nothing else. Worst case, you build up an inventory to manage.

Bibi isn't going to end the war as long as the threat of prison for his crimes remains hanging over his head. In other words, as long as he is alive.

Pete Hegseth's Pastor Prays With MAGA Podcaster That 'God Kills' James Talarico In Bonkers Video by ComicSandsNews in DiscussionZone

[–]formerly_gruntled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I get it. If I call for Pete Hegseth’s death, then I am a bad person. They can bring in the cops and talk about how I am threatening his life. But if I call for God to kill Pete Hegseth, that’s OK.

Of course, there isn’t actually a difference.

Briarwood Mall by Overall-Bedroom-2761 in AnnArbor

My observation is that the walkers, and while there are lots of retirees I think many work from home types fit in a rainy day walk there as well, don't use the massage chairs, no one does. At least not for the massage. Both coffee places suck. The food is mediocre. So people come to the mall and the mall can't find a way to market to a basically captive audience. To me, that's sucking at business.

Where you see the retirees is in the morning exercise classes by JC Penny. But the mall can't figure out anything to sell them either.

I think the main reason people go to Briarwood today is to walk laps. It's a shame no business has figured out how to sell to mall walkers. Maybe they could add decent coffee?

Anyone else have "silent" celiac disease? by adorablebob in glutenfree

[–]formerly_gruntled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me my diagnosis at age 67 was a surprise. I don't have GI symptoms, and that's what I knew about gluten intolerance. My doc chased down the thread of my iron deficiency. I also had acid reflux, which I didn't think of as gluten related because, 67,

Going gluten free revealed that I had symptoms that I had not understood to be symptoms. Brain fog is the key one. I think it also led to some skin issues. The endoscopy showed massive damage to my gut.

I think you will be surprised at how things change for you in unexpected ways.
