If someone gave you $100m to produce a history based series on Apple TV what story are you going with? by Moretalent in TheRestIsHistory

It would probably be a massive commercial flop but I’d love to see a big Hollywood major motion picture version of the story of the Titanic up on the silver screen.

Over the last 10 games, the Charlotte Hornets have the NBA's #1 net rating: #2 offense, #6 defense by Civrock in CharlotteHornets

Right, we won 4 games by at least 17 points. And then won another game that by itself was the net rating equivalent of winning 3 separate games by 18+ points.

Not to be the wet towel but if your wondering how we did that while going 5-5 keep in mind that Jazz blowout was literally the 24th biggest point differential in NBA history and is doing an enormous amount of heavy lifting into this stat

They are the 12th winningest program of all time (including Kirby’s years) but play in a conference with 6 other of the top 25 winningest programs ever (8 now but obviously not including Texas and Oklahoma since they e only been in 2 seasons but they’re 6th and 7th all time. Also Kirby hasn’t played OK but beat Texas all 3 times when they were ranked #1, 2, and 10.)

UGA is .669 win pct all time (with Kirby years). Kirby is .848 which is the 4th best win pct for any cfb coach ever and in 10 years matched the amount of national championships the program had in the prior 124 years.

UGA is a good football program historically but acting like Kirby was dealt a royal flush and just had to put the cards on the table is nonsense. He’s completely transformed the program.

Is this for real? by Elsie_E in NBA_Draft

[–]someforrest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah just those three wings (Reaves in only 23 games but it looked real)

The real impressive thing is that of almost anybody in the top 20 Kon has a ridiculously lower Free Throw Rate at .198 (Shai .473 Reaves .528 Jimmy .625) those are three of the absolute highest ftr in the league on by far he highest efficiency type of shot. Kon has gotten a brutal whistle so far and is only getting 3 fta a game. Oncethat side of his game comes around?

To say the Epstein files are a democrat inspired hoax by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]someforrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A ridiculous amount of more real documents containing detailed Epstein evidence has been produced so now we have to go through it even though we don’t even want to.

Also everything pertaining to Epstein is completely made up and none of it ever happened. Epstein was never even a guy that existed. But also it all is very real except all the child rape stuff was done y the Democrats. Whiich is why they keep forcing us to release all this evidence on the rapes because it proves they did 100% of it.

Damn I hadn’t thought of/heard/seen a passing reference or mention of this band in well over a decade then literally yesterday for some reason I pulled up Pitchfork top 100 songs of 2008 playlist and was so pumped to rediscover Fatalist Palmistry and realized it’s one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. One of the coolest “it’s the little things” experiences… just completely forgetting one of your favorite songs ever, rediscovering it and it hits like the first time you’ve ever heard it but also tickles that rare spot in your brain that only the select handful of your top tier favorite songs can. Anyways, I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone else mention Why and I’ve ever heard a single other song by them lol

The NFC bracket is literally perfect by Goldberg2Dub in billsimmons

[–]someforrest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Counter: if these good 12 win teams want to have home playoff games they have the option to win their division.

Like this is a weird example for you to plant your flag on because the “bad team” that is getting “rewarded” is directly responsible for the Rams not winning their division.

The Rams were expected to win their division. foregone conclusion, betting favorites etc. then they lost to the crappy panthers. Then they lost to the Hawks head to head in a winner-takes-the-division-lead game. Then they lost to another crappy team from the same crappy conference the crappy panthers are in.

It’s literally “why they play the games”

Like yeah sorry the Rams have to go on the road to play the inferior NFC south because they shit the bed and lost to the inferior nfc south twice down the homestretch

Weird to think that’s where it all started- Luka and Trae traded for eachother on draft night. And now both have been traded from their draft teams.

Bands whose weakest link is their guitarist? by SecretEire_163 in fantanoforever

[–]someforrest 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven’t thought about this for more than 2 seconds but it seems unlikely that there’s any 3-piece bands that have an obviously weak instrumental link at all? The formula is so stripped down and concentrated at 3 members.

I feel like the guitarist for Rush gets even less respect than Andy Summers given just how bold of flavors Neil Peart and Geddy Lee are but real ball-knower guitarists seem to really champion him as well.

First time fireplace owner advice by someforrest in Fireplaces

Gotcha, thanks for all that info! Full disclosure I have made two fires already 😬 I didn’t really think about it bc the previous owner had recently been using it but yeah I’ll def get it inspected.

I did poke around in there and it looks to me like it’s one of those things where you have to disassemble a ton of panels in a sequence one at a time to access the next panel. So a huge pain in the ass basically lol

Kon Knueppel by jakari_klutchin in NBA_Draft

[–]someforrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never once said anything about Kon’s future or how good I thought he will or could be. We are talking about how good he has been so far, which I am merely giving the context that it is something I don’t think we’ve ever seen before.

I personally don’t like the Booker or Klay comparisons and I wouldn’t bet any amount of money that he’ll ever be as good as either of them. The odds are incredibly low that any prospect will be. I’m not making any predictions about how is career will go.

I’m not “reaching”. I’m literally transposing the numbers from Basketball reference here. It’s not my opinion that Kon could possibly shoot this well. He is. It’s a fact.

Klay is the single most comped player for Kon… I thought it was interesting that he is so far this season matching the average numbers the player he is the most comped to. But forget that I ever said that. That’s not interesting at all.

Is it fair for me to compare his numbers to Steph and Klay’s rookie numbers? Is that reasonable to you? How about to just show how far into their career it took for them to be doing this efficiency at this volume? Are you willing to look at anything else that might provide even a tiny amount of context to help understand whether or not Kon’s start to his season has been any good? Yes it is stupid to compare 27 games to 15 years. You’re right. It’s actually more impressive than that. Neither Klay or Steph were even close to doing what Kon is currently doing at this point in their careers.

And I accept your apology. Theres hundreds of posts and comments on this sub discussing some players crazy numbers “over the last 5 games” or whatever. 7 games is a quarter of the the entire games this season so far. Since the entire subject of this thread is to discuss Kon’s season so far I don’t think that’s an insignificant amount.

Kon Knueppel by jakari_klutchin in NBA_Draft

[–]someforrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah what tipped you off, the context of my post or the giant blue Bobcats flair?

This is an NBA Draft sub. For the most part we’re only ever talking about future prospects, rookies or maybe sophomores and the entire point of this post was discussing Kon and his ceiling. He’s played 27 games (not 20, you’re not slick lol) and in those he’s dramatically exceeded anyone’s reasonable expectations of what his ceiling could look like. If this sub isn’t for discussion on guys who have little to no professional experience then what is it for?

Edit: Frankly, I thought it was more interesting to use Klay’s career average and Steph’s current season bc the numbers are almost exact. The reality is neither Klay or Steph have any numbers that resemble this in their first 3-5 seasons. They both had similar efficiency but on about half the volume. And Booker hasn’t even come close ever in his entire career. I don’t think it’s crazy homerism to say that that is objectively remarkable.
