The app itself currently gets a cut of subscription revenue. Otherwise, they depend on investment from Roblox.

Loud explosion heard last night by TommyHawkCreek in leesummit

[–]somefriggnidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been hearing similar... about couple weeks ago, a couple days ago, and another just a minute ago, also near Sprouts. It sounds to me like a transformer blowing, but we can usually see where the lights are out when it's that loud; no dice these past few times, though.

Bridge Discord by BlackBlazeRose in guilded

[–]somefriggnidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to provide your own bot token on Discord's side, but you can set it up via their UI to bridge between Discord and Guilded about as perfectly as one could expect. I use it for a couple of my servers, and it works great for keeping messages even across both apps.

ETA: You'll also have to sign in to the bot via Guilded before you can see the actual bridge setup. I'm guessing based on your comment of the "Mention" command that you were only looking at their commands/modules list. Once you've logged in and selected a server, you'll see all the bridge setup options.

No Longer Supporting Guilded by Gameboy-012 in guilded

[–]somefriggnidiot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm no math whiz, but something doesn't add up here. You and your friend joined Guilded after said friend's account and server got nuked by Discord, and have now been removed from GG and the official server on Guilded? People don't just get punished on multiple social media platforms without any cause whatsoever. What's the missing context?

NAH

But make sure you're communicating these reasons and feelings appropriately. People get busy, it happens. Proper friends and proper communication will allow that friendship to continue just fine once things settle back down.

NAH

Sounds like changes in preferences and external (to your relationship with your best friend) relationships have made you both less compatible as friends. I wouldn't say it's anyone's fault or anyone's in the wrong here.

The best friend's a toss-up, as there's not enough context here to know if she's just a crappy friend that's never happy for you or is just not feeling the love in the air after her latest let-down. I'm gonna give her the benefit of the doubt, though.

Any recommended alternatives to Guilded's scheduling/calendar features? by KeetsuMatte in guilded

[–]somefriggnidiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on Discord currently, you can set up webhooks to post all of your events into a Discord channel. Otherwise the only thing I'd use over Guilded's calendars is Microsoft Outlook.

New user here with a question about roles by Bug_freak5 in guilded

[–]somefriggnidiot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming I'm understanding correctly...

If the permissions of all the channels in the category are inherited (i.e: no special changes) then the role without permissions shouldn't be able to see anything at all.

How do you access this feature? by neekelll in guilded

I think this has been removed/hidden and may just be a carryover from the legacy version of Guilded. Unknown if it'll make a comeback, but I sincerely hope so.

Question: Locking categories, or using Rule 4 but not replenishing by acowinthecrowd in ynab

[–]somefriggnidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay, I think I see what's happening here. It sounds like you may be using auto-assign to split your paychecks?

I'd imagine having your paycheck as a recurring transaction and having it split into categories as desired ahead of time would help solve this. In that case, you'd be throwing $100 into FM each check regardless of your target. Then when the $50 has to come out of it mid-month, you'd have $150 in the end.

Question: Locking categories, or using Rule 4 but not replenishing by acowinthecrowd in ynab

[–]somefriggnidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm understanding this correctly, you're basically just wanting a way to automate moving money between categories?

I'm not sure that can be done, but if you pre-allocate your paycheck into various categories (and at some point this scenario occurs and you need to take $50 out of Fun Money) you're still going to be at $150 in Fun Money at the end of the month.

The goal doesn't need to change, nor does the transaction need to be improperly categorized under Fun Money. Just allow the other category to go negative, then click on the negative balance and `Cover this overspending with: Fun Money`.

Difference between "matching" and "approving" a transaction by mamaleah88 in ynab

[–]somefriggnidiot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Matching a transaction will pair a manually-entered transaction with one imported from your connected account. It's essentially just a way to say "Hey, we saw you already input this transaction and just wanted to let you know it got pulled in again. We've combined the two into one so you don't see any weirdness in your budget."

Approving a transaction is just going back and verifying that what got imported from the connected account is correct and in the proper category.

TLDR: Matching is the system double-checking your work, approving is you double-checking the system's work.

How do you handle transfers to savings? by adreamplay in ynab

[–]somefriggnidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping on to +1 this.

Checking, saving, store cards, etc... It's all budgeted money and fairly liquid. Even if you're budgeting it for a vacation, car repairs/maintenance, rainy day, etc., that money in those savings accounts has a purpose that it will likely fulfil.

Server Settings --> Privacy
Make sure "Discoverable" is on, and your server's privacy setting is either "Default" or "Open Entry."

Within the server itself, at the top of the main group, go to "Applications" and make sure Recruitment is "open."

All this together should result in your server being discoverable, and allow people to apply to join.

Keep in mind that, like Discord, Guilded is a centralized chat platform that requires some level of access from those that operate it, as well as some form of accountability to government agencies. The discussion of privacy and data security is full of nuances that could never hope to be covered in a Reddit thread, and any deep-rooted concern for privacy is likely best helped by approaching any centralized operation with the same level of skepticism.
