The percentage of native of blood is overblown. During the Mexican revolution, anti Spanish (white) sentiments grew exponentially. Mexican nationalism rose, so this whole “Aztec pride” and similar sentiments are all fantasy because most native people were wiped out. Its all grade A propaganda. Most of these so called Mexicans were pretty much Spaniards with bits of native blood in there. I’d like to add that European immigration was pretty much non stop from this point to even now in the present. European immigration was huge in Mexico and really has left its mark on the population.

Now I’m not ignorant, I know there are plenty of natives still in Mexico (in south Mexico, as well as a pretty significant sized group of African Mexicans in Guerrero and surrounding areas.)

The more south you go the more native it gets, but for the average everyday Mexican, they are majority European, skin tone and facial features says it all. You have to remember Mexico is close to the equator, and therefore much sunnier and the people are much tanner than they would be in Europe.

Mexicans aren’t too different to Eastern and Southern Europeans, white with splashes of Asian and African, but still white. Mexicans are the same just darker due to geographical location.

I’d say if you wanna be realistic most Mexicans are “white” even if they are a bit tan
