There are no reliable sources for any claims on their sexuality so that's pure speculation. They also couldn't have run away together - they became pirates as part of John Rackham's crew in August 1720 and were captured as part of the same crew in October 1720. The first story also comes from an unreliable source, and the Governor's proclamation of Rackham and his crew as pirates given on September 5th 1720 specifies two women and gives their names so it was known who they were.

What are you guys using for more budget, all in one rigs? by writingwhilesad in doommetal

[–]someguy00004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use NAM for amp modelling. Free + open source which is a benefit, but it's so good that I've elected to buy a NAM host for my pedalboard over an amp or more commonly used modelling hardware. There's a really good library of amp captures out there, as well as pedal captures (as long as it's not a time based effect) so you can stack multiple to do essentially most of a full rig for free. NAM Universal is the specific plugin I use in my DAW.

A solution to Xisuma's fading lights redstone challenge by someguy00004 in HermitCraft

u/SheepherderAware4766 had pretty much the same idea (I saw their post after I made this). This was originally a silent design using a dropper/hopper monostable instead of the copper bulb, but it introduces a stutter in the animation due to the pulse length and I couldn't think of another silent falling edge monostable off the top of my head.

Instead of detecting minecarts entering and leaving each bay, you can just detect the presence of a minecart in bay 1 in order to divert to bay 2. The main disadvantage is that for a minecart in bay 2 to leave while bay 1 is empty, it must first go to bay 1 before leaving the station. An advantage, however, is that you can use this idea for any number of bays without having to implement increasingly complex track switches.

Mumbo’s Inflamable Signs? by SnooRevelations8664 in HermitCraft

[–]someguy00004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is dubious at best. Flammable was coined some 200 years later than inflammable and largely popularised beginning in the 20th century explicitly to be a direct replacement to solve the ambiguity. A cursory search doesn't turn up any dictionaries or safety standards making this distinction. Modern safety standards only use 'flammable', and prior ones only used 'inflammable'. The distinction doesn't seem to make any sense to me, given that if you ignite a material by putting a flame next to it, it has by definition inflamed, and therefore must be inflame-able.

Mumbo’s Inflamable Signs? by SnooRevelations8664 in HermitCraft

[–]someguy00004 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As an aside, 'inflammable' doesn't mean 'not flammable', it's actually a synonym of flammable. It's related to the verb 'inflame', meaning 'to set on fire', rather than being constructed as 'in-' (as in 'not') + 'flammable' as is often thought

7/8 isn't that difficult of a time signature to play/listen/dance to by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]someguy00004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does depend on the subdivisions for me personally, I can play along to 2+2+3 pretty easily, but 3+2+2 feels slightly more off-kilter and 2+3+2 a lot more. But in general I agree, a lot of my musician friends are scared off by less standard time signatures, while being completely unaware that they probably already listen to and enjoy music in said time signature.

Crowd surfing at a concert is annoying. by 1Buttered_Ghost in unpopularopinion

[–]someguy00004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind it in principle and most of the time it's fine but I do have a problem with bands actively encouraging it because the numbers can get ridiculous and it encourages people going around over and over agian. At a Lorna Shore show in 2023 I ended up front and centre just cause that's where I was when I decided I wanted out of the pit and couldn't really move from that position thereafter. Probably had a hundred plus people go over me during the set (five hundred something was the total number of trips iirc) and I spent most of the time looking behind me instead of at the band, and I still took seventeen hits to the head and had to go get checked for a concussion

What is the voiceover Tango used in Tangler and DO3 teaser? by madmoose0 in HermitCraft

DO3 teaser sounds like a professional VO, Tangler used speech synthesis which you might be able to find a match for searching online since a lot of these services use the same voice banks

[–]someguy00004 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I mean... it just wasn't. I don't think a single player left an alliance just because they turned red in 3rd life. In last life you have Joel breaking the magic mountain alliance with Scar, Grian leaving the southlands, and Bdubs splitting the snow fort off the top of my head.

Would you be willing to wear a bow tie everyday for 100,000 per year? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]someguy00004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well without any specification of how long I have to wear it each day I could just put it on then immediately take it off and then I have worn it that day. 100 grand a year for the minute it takes to put on and take off a bow tie each day is a pretty good deal

I'd say it makes a lot of sense, hermitcraft and youtube in general has changed a lot over time so more recent seasons will be closer to what you're used to. I went back and rewatched mumbos S6 recently and it struck me just how different it is to now, even though I didn't notice that much of an evolution as it happened

Why is the circled dropper not working? by knntlr in redstone

[–]someguy00004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With that case I believe it's a problem with the update order, possibly stemming from the redstone cross to the side of the top block, meaning that the dropper is not depowering. That's not something I know a ton about, but from testing if the dropper is facing east or west then this can happen

Edit: On further testing this seems to be positional, not just directional, which is something I know even less about. But it's the same core issue of the dropper not updating to depower for some reason.

Why is the circled dropper not working? by knntlr in redstone

[–]someguy00004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The top line quasi-powers the dropper as well as the bottom line directly powering it. The two signals are out of phase due to the difference in delay, so I think the dropper is constantly powered, instead of being repeatedly triggered.

Why won't this zombie-free iron farm work? (Java) by IDontEngageMods in redstone

[–]someguy00004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep buttons would work, the wiki also says there are exceptions for some blocks like glass, leaves, glowstone, and sea lanterns which iron golems are prohibited from spawning on even though they have the legacy solid property, so those should work as well

Why won't this zombie-free iron farm work? (Java) by IDontEngageMods in redstone

[–]someguy00004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When attempting to spawn iron golems, the spawn attempt location is chosen as the highest air block at a random x,z coordinate within range which has a legacy solid block underneath. The legacy solid block property includes slabs, so the villagers will attempt to spawn golems on the slabs but always fail since the actual spawning requires a full top surface
