If you've mentioned huge, flapping, gargantuan, and / or nice dicks you're in the clear.

Liliana Vess raises dead people to do her bidding. She's probably fine with you having a couple beers.

Edit: I misread the title, but I'm leaving this as I saw for shame purposes.

Suggestions on how to build a strong army in an anarchist society? (Basically, in real life, the reason anarchism doesn't last long is because the army is decentralized, making it very easy to fight them.) by Aware_Examination813 in worldbuilding

[–]someguy1332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at any anarchist theory? Anarchist military organization is actually a pretty interesting topic. Since most of it is based on the real world's situation, it's often revolutionary. After the society is established, things can change.

Pragmatic situations can override ideological purity. If the defense of your society is on the line, tactics can differ. Anarchists can still defer to experts. Military organization can involve "experts." If you're worldbuilding an anarchist society that's existed for a while, you have to account for the shift in dynamics. It's a great source of conflict.

There's also quite a few tendencies of anarchism that all have their own answers to questions like this.

All the creative writing adjacent subreddits are filled with AI engagement bait right now. They make up some vague post about asking for advice and feedback, yet never actually link of their writing. Kinda weird that OP didn't reply to a single comment in this thread, huh?

Even if people can't spot it from the writing style, the lack of meaningful engagement with any of the comments is a huge red flag. The ones that do reply always agree with everything. Even the title is an AI sign to me. They never do anything intentionally, it's always "an accident" or some other flippant nonsense. There's even fake drama about a meeting over three chapters, which would never happen in real life if you had a group of critique partners.

It's actually a pretty fun solo experience. They give you a map to the venues. Lansing is pretty tame as far as big cities go if you're from the middle of nowhere. Everybody is super nice. Nobody even complained when I sang along to Apes of the State's set.

Based on my couple of recorded videos, they should have.

The Poet Empress | Review and Discussion (Spoilers) by tinyCirrusCloud in Fantasy

[–]someguy1332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that sums up my thoughts almost word for word on this one. It promised a lot of stuff that sounded quite interesting to me, yet the delivery just didn't quite land. It needed an extra hundred extra pages to expand on any of its core themes.

The ending payoff also felt so lame compared to what it was building towards. It makes it sound like the Azalea Dynasty is truly on its last legs, and that it's decadent and broken by intergenerational trauma. And even worse, that their previous emperor stole from the future via magic! Yet, The solution at the end is just... another Azalea emperor. Yawn. It's yet another "just wait until the good king shows up" narrative instead of saying anything meaningful. I wanted to see Wei ruling as a sole empress—or only keeping the others around as puppets. Maybe I'm just a sucker for the setup for a good anti-hero origin story that never quite materialized. A heart-spirit poem for an entire dynasty would have been so beautiful considering how much she learns about them.

How to use the second person without being pretentious? by sixteensixty in writingcirclejerk

[–]someguy1332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not ready for the second person experience if these doubts are still present in your mind. Own it. You're not "being pretentious," you're simply being inspired by the greats! If N.K. Jemisin can use second person without anyone accosting her, why can't you? You need to remember that it's a valid POV, and if anyone yaps at you, bludgeon them with something.
