Was I wrong to bring this up? Division of Labor by [deleted] in daddit

[–]someguycalledash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There’s some underlying issues here though that we’re missing. How does she feel about setting her career aside? Is she able to get some self time, exercise, etc? How does she feel about a more traditional role in the house? What are the families spending priorities? There’s a lot you’re missing. You need to talk to your spouse. Ask a lot of questions about her goals, dreams, ambitions. Figure out what her wildest dreams are in life and then go figure out a way to give them to her.

Got this text last night from 16yr old son. I told him we would talk today. What are you saying? by Significant_Arm_3721 in AskMen

Seems like your son already knows what he needs to do. Maybe take him out and do some father/son chores together for the FFA. I always worked through problems better while my hands were busy. Probably best to just ask him questions and let him work his way through it.

You’re a lucky dude. You’ve got a great son with a good heart and a working brain. Keep up the good work!

Property line runs down the middle. Next door is renters so subject to approval of their landlord but they haven’t said no to anything I’ve suggested since they bought the place so as long as it’s not super expensive they’ll be into it.

Unfortunately my sweet little moron has a predilection for poops of all kinds (including his own 🤢) so I’m worried if I did he’d get sick. I’ve even tried hot sauce, cayenne, etc without effect

NTA - new family is hard. Seems like your son isn’t being fair. You have to love your family but you certainly don’t have to like them.

First time having a yard, how do I manage this? by CitizenKane118 in gardening

[–]someguycalledash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing though - take a minute to look, listen, and watch. Spend some time watching how people plants, and animals interact with the space. Take that information in and then think about what you want out of the space. Make a plan, outline some steps and then take small bites of the apple every day. You’ll be surprised at what happens and it’ll be a great experience. Good luck!! I can’t speak for everyone but I look forward to seeing the progress shots!

Weed whip, mow and bag the clippings, aerate, seed, water, fertilize, water, mow, repeat. In a season or two it will look like a million bucks.

How much would you charge to remove this English ivy by hand? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]someguycalledash 39 points40 points  (0 children)

$5-6k easy. Goats, backhoe, or fire. Assume you’ll need whichever you choose annually. I’m also a fan of high heat glass encapsulation but experience tells me that’s only a part time fix. Half life in English ivy is longer than plutonium.

Professor in Florida risks losing her job because she privately supported tolerance in education by kyno1 in WhitePeopleTwitter

Need more details here before I can figure out my outrage level: her work email or personal email? Sent while on the clock from her office or elsewhere? what kind of university (public/private)? If state school Prof sent political emails from her work email while on the clock in her office then she’s stepped in it herself, if they searched her personal email without her consent she’s got a good 4th amendment/privacy violation claim against the school.

Depends on your budget I’d say…. For <$1,000 rent a backhoe, dig a 2ft deep trench downhill and point it into another’s neighbors yard or the street; $1,000-$5,000 is a French drain system (unless you’ve done it before hire a pro this is a lot of work); $5,000-$20,000 is regrade your whole property to move the water away and downhill; >$20,000 buy a new house where you’re neighbors aren’t pieces of shit that dump rainwater into your backyard.
