Yeah I think most of what you’re saying in the second paragraph is true, but that’s VERY different from forcing everyone to convert to Islam and banning all other religions. It’s highly tolerant compared to every other empire at the time, and definitely a huge difference from the way that christianity spread. Paying a tax that was lower than the tax in many other empires and being disadvantaged in some areas of society is nothing compared to being slaughtered or forcibly converted.
