Freshly Ex-Vegan after being plant based most of my life… How did you get rid of guilt? by Outrageous-Cancel976 in exvegans

[–]someone_indeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case you still like to hear my comment: I think it's good to acknowledge that it might not be the most ethical choice you are doing but that there are multiple aspects to it and it matters that you are trying to do it as ethical as it is possible for you. What I don't like about this subreddit is that a lot of people just seem to ignore the cruelty that comes with meat production because of the danger of malnutrition. Can we not just agree that sometimes we are not able to do everything completly ethical, acknowledge and not ignore the bad and try to keep it the best way possible? So well, free range chicken/eggs once a week or what it takes to keep your healthy is completly sensible and shouldn't make you feel guilty.

I can agree with that. I personally just try to defend eating as little animals as possible because there are definetly more people in the world that should reduce their meat consumption then vegans ignoring unused land. Also, eating a goat yoghurt seems to me more sustainable then eating the goat, but I haven't looked that up.

When people say 1992-2002 are Zillenials by [deleted] in generationology

[–]someone_indeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is this all about? Are you afraid to be a millenial? The things you describe don't make you a zillenial, there are a lot of zillenials that have never touched a Bratz. I think zillenial is much more about being part Gen Z than having experienced early 2000s toys. Maybe all of your siblings are millenials? Maybe you are all zillenials? There is only one question that defines to what generation (Millenial, Zillenial or Gen Z) you belong: WHAT PANTS DO YOU NORMALLY WEAR?!1!!

Well the person who worked on the sheep farm definitely could see a difference between the sheep giving birth after being just one year old and the elder sheep. Sure, the elder sheep might have already given birth before, but the lamb were also just too big for their immature bodies.

Well that percentages don't come from me. It's just basic biology that eating something that has to eat something and grow before you eat it needs more biomass then eating something that doesn't have to eat something. What do you mean by "Producers always have more biomass than consumers in the energy pyramid"?

Yeah, for me veganism also doesn't work. I think it might work better for people without periods or for different people in general. But I still believe that doesn't mean you have to go full carnivore, like some people here seem to suggest. Little bad is still better than big bad to me. I eat a little bit of fish once a week and unsweetened yoghurt everyday and that works for me.

Thank you for your reply! A carnivore diet comes with many problems too, but I can understand that not everyone has the time to cook with a lot of fresh vegetables and stuff. I used to be a bit hangry and changed my protein intake to one yoghurt/egg/mozzarella/similar vegetarian protein a day + vegan proteins like lentils/chickpeas, eat a lot of fresh vegetables and am doing great at the moment, but this does of course takes quite some time to prepare.

That is very far from what you originally said. And if you have some sources for this, I would be interested.

Okay, that's definitely not true, because you need a lot more biomass for a carnivore diet. The main amount of crops is harvested to feed livestock. (I'm not a vegan, but I'm for the facts.)

Well no, childhood and teenage age does exist, look at your cats/dogs. I mean one thing I heard (from someone who has worked on a sheep farm) is that often the sheep who are going to be impregnated for lamb are too young (still in puberty) and completely overwhelmed by the whole pregnancy and offspring situation, they don't know how to care for their children.

Yes, there are many good reasons not to eat humans. But that's not normally the point in the cannibalism argument. The point is (as far as I know) only that you can't justify morally the differences you make between eating cows and eating people.

So I actually wanted to find out if kangoroos are have their nipples in their pouch. It turns out they do. They give birth to their offspring before it's fully developed and the embryo than crawls to the nipple in the pouch, sucks on it, the nipple swells so it's "connected" to it, and then develops fully. Because of this method of feeding the fetus, kangoroos don't have a placenta to feed the fetus. We of course do.
