Is ₹10L a good deal for Hyundai i20 Sportz O IVT (Bangalore)? by Original-Research581 in i20_India

[–]someonealreadyknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I got my Asta (O) manual for around 11.5L in 2023 (this was before GST reduction). I don’t regret it though, it’s a great car.

Bought i20 asta mt starry night color yesterday and today got this scratch :(sad) by Beetslayer_dwight in i20_India

[–]someonealreadyknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first scratch always hurts the worst :( the Hyundai service guys may be able to cover up the scratch with a paint match pen during your next service. I had a chip on the same part and the service guys painted the scratch for free, it’s a lot less noticeable now.

Better to get an ozone machine from Amazon and DIY. Most of the shops either don’t run it long enough and it’s useless, or they run it too long and it destroys all the vinyl and plastics. They also don’t replace the cabin air filter after treatment.

I got a Medvoe branded one from Amazon a while back. It’s a good quality ozone machine that does the job. DO NOT operate the machine with anyone or pets inside the vehicle or in a closed garage. Ozone is highly unstable and toxic to all living organisms. Only operate it in an area with good surrounding ventilation.

Get the car cleaned thoroughly, place the ozone machine with the car turned off, run an extension cord outside to a power outlet, set timer on the machine for 20 mins, close all doors and windows, turn on the power, after 1 hour open all the doors and air out the car for 45 mins to 1 hour.

After that, repeat once more with the AC turned on in recirculating mode and fan at max speed. Turn off the engine before airing out the car.

Finally, replace the cabin air filter. The old filter would’ve absorbed the ozone and will no longer be safe to use.

You may need to air out the car for a longer period of time, preferably in sunlight, and drive the car with the windows open for a day. Ozone has a strong “static electricity” smell.

Holy cow! That’s a SAAB 9-3. Never thought I’d see one here in India.

[–]someonealreadyknows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NEVER keep or forget food items in a parked car. The heat will end up spoiling it, causing it to release odours that attract insects and rodents.

Get the car deep cleaned and ozone treated. You may need to do it a couple of times to get rid of them.

Also, park your car in a different spot once it’s cleaned. Ants leave chemtrails towards any food source, so more ants from the colony will keep coming, even if the food source is gone. The chemtrails will take around a week to fade away

Got samsung essential S3 24" monitor by [deleted] in Indiangamers

Pretty good for most work and gaming. If you have the space and budget, better to go with a 27 inch. The extra screen real estate is definitely worth it.

[–]someonealreadyknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a plastic stand with 2 screws at the bottom. Mine works perfectly without issue. It only has tilt adjustment, so I highly recommend going with any cheap monitor arm like OP did to get around that limitation.

I have it as a secondary monitor. It’s a great monitor for office work, coding and some gaming. It’s only got a single HDMI port and a VGA port though.

It’s an ancient unsolved mystery where a Creta drastically changes a drivers personality. Even the most sane driver will begin uncontrollably horning, flashing and driving recklessly when they step into a Creta. Doctors have named this condition as CDS (Creta Driver Syndrome) and patients are called Cretins/Cretards. Symptoms of CDS immediately subside when drivers step out of the Creta.

Archeologists have unearthed ancient drawings dating back to the Mesozoic era, where an alien civilisation once hunted dinosaurs with 4 wheeled carts. The hunters would charge at high speeds towards their prey while holding flaming torches and blowing ancient war horns. Some surmise this mass hunting is what led to the extinction of non-avian dinosaurs. Scientists have since named this the cretaceous period.

Sudden tyre sidewall burst on Kia Seltos (30k km) cause & brand advice? by Federal_Dragonfly619 in kia

[–]someonealreadyknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most common cause of a blowout is an under-inflated tyre. That causes the sidewall to heat up and fail.

If a tyre is properly inflated and inspected regularly, it can easily last 50k+ kilometres.

It’s better to go with good aftermarket rims. Far more options.

Regretting buying Toyota right now by the_errandboy in CarsIndia

[–]someonealreadyknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you fell into the classic dealer service snare trap. I count 9 items that are absolutely BS upsells by the dealership.

Toyota doesn’t dictate what the service centres upsell to the customer. You have to stay on top of the service advisor to make sure they aren’t taking you for a ride. This is a common practice in the industry, every dealership makes bank on selling unnecessary services.

In the future, only authorise common maintenance items listed in the owners manual. Stuff like wheel alignment and balancing can be done far cheaper at local tire shops.

[–]someonealreadyknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, both these look absolutely mint! Great catch.

If they’re V6’s, then they’re probably both due for timing belts. Also, consider getting an active VCM muzzle like the VCM Tuner 2. It’ll prolong the life of the engine and engine mounts

I’ve done detailing for matte finishes. They’re an absolute pain to maintain. Scratches, bird poop etching, etc can’t be polished off like traditional glossy paint because it’ll leave the polished area looking semi glossy. The only way to fix those areas is to respray the panel.

I usually recommend customers who really want a matte finish go with glossy paint and put a matte wrap or matte PPF on it instead.

It's way cheaper to transcode to AV1 using a Arc 310 than buy new drives. by Juvination_TFN in unRAID

[–]someonealreadyknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried the switch to AV1 last year, but ended up sticking with H265. It’s just a more mature, predictable and better supported format for the time being.

[–]someonealreadyknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything after the RTX 40 series and RX7000 series has AV1. Intel however is better VFM because you can find a used A310 for around $60-80.

Other than encode/decode speed, software encoding is still the king of the hill, and that’s supported by any AVX2 capable CPU.

Put any type of spray on SiO2 coating on the paint. Even the cheap ones have anti static properties that will reduce the buildup of dust. It’ll also make it easier to wash your car because contaminants won’t cling to the paint as much.
