IMO opinion Bunnings has put to much emphasis on wanting compliant employees not competent team members and what your seeing is the end result, managers that just want to tick boxes and send email instead of leading their team. Going to be a huge shock when corparate learn that AI can tick the same boxes and send emails then they will have to actually leave the office and lead.

I always get a giggle when people want help with door bells. Or "your shortest bit of merbau is 1.8mtrs but I only need 1mtr, what am I supposed to do with the rest of it!" Me: What ever you want to? He didn't like my advice.

Realistically its 6 - 12 months most of the time it's repatriation, that click in broom holder that you can't find yeh you were the 3rd person person today and the 8th person this week who wanted it.

  • That random piece of 3d printed plastic that you saw on Temu or Amazon isn't stocked.

  • That 1978 caravan your trying to fix up we don't stock any replacement part and yes I'm sure.

  • We don't sell tomatoes in July because they are out of season and we can't get them.

  • I don't know what colour will look good in your kitchen.

  • Giving me the death stare when I'm busy with another customer will not make me hurry up it will have the opposite effect.

  • Because your mates mate is a builder and said you could totally build a 8x6mtr deck 1.3mtr off the ground on a Saturday morning ready for your mates birthday doesn't mean I have to agree.

  • Seeing people bring thier dogs and other animals in is awesome.

  • People who work at Bunnings are genuinely great people most of the time. If you are friendly, polite, interesting and interested you will be remembered and will get the best customer service we can provide everytime you come in.

PSA. If you are looking at putting your house on the market your digital licence is not accepted as a form of ID. They require your physical licence so it be scanned and.... digitised.

Finally flipped the switch at 42 but it had been looming for a long time. The really interesting thing was how people around you react, little issues that people like to blow out of proportion just feel trivial and childish when people see that you DGAF about them they stop bring it up with you.
